Still obsessed with this tune:

An interesting version recorded here from the Barbican concert with the additional string ensemble. The version I've heard performed in the US is a bit more raw and stripped down with the smaller band, and just a bit closer to the original drum machine/synth track. I do like the additions of the electric guitar and vocalist quite a lot.

Here is the original film version:

Finally picked one of these up at MondoCon:

I like Becky Cloonan's Medusa artwork on the reverse, and the castle map on the inner gatefold. I have heard this was sourced from a curated soundtrack album, rather than straight from the original Konami game rom. Either way, the nostalgia factor is cranked up to 11 for me. I'm looking forward to what they do with the series, but it will likely be a long road to Symphony of the Night:

For those of you who owned the PS1 game, did you ever put the game disc in a CD player to hear the hidden bonus track?

War movie, but it has lots of bossa sophistication & Edda Dell'Orso vocal. It's a good one I need it to put me in a better mood...

One of my favorite Mondo releases to date. We definitely need more ass kickers like this. UV spot varnish effect on the bullet ricochets looks dope too.

Thanks to @Dollarhyde for the inspiration and random good luck on this one:
ImageExcellent OST, with some proggy disco jazzfunk tunes that just rip. Also, some lovely orchestral pieces as well, including a very Italian-sounding number with wordless vocals. The concept art on the sleeve and insert is top-shelf:

This is an amazing score/sleeve/choice of release. Just one of many reasons from the last year that I'm actually considering the sub this time out (even tho I'm generally not a sub kinda guy... WW just seem to really hit me where I live, and with uncanny regularity.

@ScoJo - That single-sided acetate has the whole shebang. ;} Surely a rare find though.

Image^Wow, this sounds incredible. One side in and it's already knocking me out. So varied, playful, and just masterful. Stoked to have this one.

The splatter vinyl sounds perfect to me. A very lovely release by Death Waltz:

^The morning after follow-up....

Listening to The Fountain is something of a religious experience for me, and last night was probably one of most enjoyable private listens I have ever had. The pressing sounds unbelievable, even on this ridiculous splatter/haze vinyl. In the foggy darkness of the night, I was transported far away to another realm.

I have been following Clint Mansell's creations ever since his electronic breakbeats stood out for me on the Pi soundtrack back in the late 90's. I know his material is not for everyone, but I find something magical in the mix that hits all the right notes for me. As much as I love Requiem... and Moon, this album is the one I return to the most and strikes the strongest emotional response. Every time I hear the climax of Death Is The Road To Awe, whether in headphones, in my car, within the film, or even from Clint's band performing it live, it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I find it electrifying if not something like pure exultation in music. The screening of the film at MondoCon is fresh in my memory, and I remember sitting there in the dark with my eyes closed while the final piano solo plays over the end credits. What an experience, and I could not be happier with both the event at MondoCon and this beautiful vinyl album they have released.

@deaf, nice to see another 33/45 set united.
That track 'Dancing Prism' is such a tune! I'm very tempted to try and source a copy of this anime to watch 'Future War 198X', seems it may be a little relavent with the changing global/political landscape.

Also,

Fly by Night! so that's that record from the DFN, added to the wants list.

@Dollar - There seems to be a German DVD available on ebay and elsewhere. I would like to check it out as well.

This album has been getting multiple spins. Cheers to all involved:
