Buckethead's Population Override was released on 2LP with a few bonus tracks from other albums. This is instrumental jazz/funk-rock stuff, tastefully done, a chill listen. Not bad for a guy that records like an insane number of albums every year.

Anyway, I was worried it was a bootleg, but I think it's legit. The only place you can buy it is from the label Ion Records via Amazon.

Haven't been on here for some time, and finally had time to catch up with some threads. I was surprised though no one has brought this one up yet:

Moggy/Piero Umiliani - Tra Scienza E Fantascienza

They also have the soundtrack for Le Réserviste (link on the same page), which does not really do it for me though.

I want this one to sell well, so they keep going in that direction with the label. So all Umiliani fans, go for this ;) (have checked discogs for prices, and for now, the re-issue will have to do, at least for me)

Missed the pre-release on this one, so when I walked into my local record shop and saw it last week I nearly fell over..

Melvins - 'Lysol/ Lice-all' re-release (double LP twinned with Eggnog)
For fans of Earth/ Sunn/ Sleep this is a similarly doom-ridden sludge rock masterpiece, original copies of which go for stupid money.

But don't take my word for it, let Julian Cope convince you of it's merits THUSLY

In summary: 'LYSOL is Melvins’ greatest and most sacred gift to future heathens, for its tones and vibrations taken together often and in large doses offer listeners the key to Eternal Cuntedness'. Word...

1 year old. But from Belgium and one of my favourite albums of 2014. Type of music that probably will interest more people on STBC:

"Enjoy a strange and exotic trip without leaving your chair.". WHISPERIN' AND HOLLERIN'

"A pure balalaikian bitches brew, unwieldy, frenetic and frantic, its shape shifts with acutely cute angular poise dashed upon skin prickling art pop posies". LOSING TODAY

"Fuses kraut-funk with touches of old school metal, Klaus Dinger percussion meets Deep Purple" - RWFF MUSIC

"Les Baxter meets Happy Mondays" - MONOLITH COCKTAIL

"The soundtrack to a late night on the lash with Mick Farren in late sixties Ladbroke Grove or Max’s Kansas City" - GREEN MAN

Really looking forward to this. I'm a big fan of the writings of Ray Bradbury, and to have it read by Leonard Nimoy along with some vintage synth and acoustic backing music it's a real treat. Here's the blurb from the website:
Taken from the forthcoming album Soft Rains, out Feb 23rd 2015.
Zarelli is the alter-ego of Carwyn Ellis – a much-coveted tour de force producer/multi-instrumentalist who has recently earned plaudits as the man behind the music for the 2014 award-winning documentary about Edwyn Collins, The Possibilities Are Endless.
With this new project Zarelli has taken the 1975 vocal recording of Leonard Nimoy reading Ray Bradbury's unsettling but vital short story There Will Come Soft Rains (taken from The Martian Chronicles, 1950), and amped up the sensations with an original composed soundtrack that is (like the story) beautiful, tragic and tense.

Anyone else been digging Whyte Horses? Group includes Dom Thomas from Finders Keepers, with early material sounding somewhere between Broadcast/ Death & Vanilla & French psyche pop. 45 out already with an LP soon.

Another favourite of mine from last year. And from Belgium, which makes me proud :-)

Condor Gruppe

"The record contains 9 exotica fueled songs which echoe
the sound of an intoxicated ride through the desert, an oriental excursion by night and a
fuzzy spaced out guitar, all of these elements backed by a solid and groovy rhythm section,
keeping you headnodding and stomping on hot, sweaty nights.
The result is a diverse and adventurous trip throuh music history and th eband’s own dusty
record shelves, going from Arthur Lyman to Ennio Morricone and the mighty Can."

Snakefinger: Live In Melbourne 1981 - 3-sided limited edition, hand-numbered vinyl being released by Vincent Presley from Those Poor Bastards and Zebras.
Indigogo page is here:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/snak ... escription

"Philip "Snakefinger" Lithman is best known as a guitarist & collaborator for legendary weirdos, The Residents. Between their albums and tours, Snakefinger released four solo albums and toured the world before dying of a heart attack in 1987. He was only thirty eight years old.
As a huge fan of The Residents, Snakefinger, and the entire Ralph Records family I spent many years collecting until all that was left was unreleased demos and live bootlegs. The first time I heard this Live In Melbourne show I was blown away. His first two studio albums are great but have a very Residents feel to them (all co-written and produced by them) whereas this live recording showed me a crazy, revved up, "post punk" version I never knew about. I love both versions but this show is really something special and has been my go to Snakefinger recording for the last ten years or so. This recording has never been released except for some bootleg cassettes and downloads. I tried to find the best copies I could and finally sent two different sources to Carl Saff to restore and master it. This will be the first time the recording has been mastered and put on vinyl and Molly Harvey (singer / collaborator with The Residents through the 90's and 2000's) is working on a drawing of Snakefinger for the record jacket. Only 300 copies! Let's make this happen! " - Vincent Presley

THIS ALBUM IS BEING MADE IN FULL COOPERATION WITH LA-NI LITHMAN, THE RESIDENTS, AND THE CRYPTIC CORPORATION. PLEASE PRE-ORDER ONE SO IT CAN FINALLY GET A LEGITIMATE RELEASE. Snakefinger Live In Melbourne 1981 VINYL!!!! | Indiegogo https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/snak ... escription

To me, pipe-organ enthusiasts...
Aine O'Dwyer's 'Music for Church Cleaners Vol 1 and 2' on MIE

An improvised recording made on an organ in a London chapel while the church cleaners go about their day, Aine's timeless music is constantly offset/ enhanced by environmental noises around her as she plays: the drone of the cleaners' vacuums, the clacking organ pedals, the creaking of the pews, random noise and chatter.

Anyone allergic to religious-sounding music will probably find it too much, but for fans of Nico or Dead Can Dance gloominess it's an uplifing and satisfying listen, with the LP landing somewhere between an ambient meditation, a live improvisation, an archivist field recording, and something completely other.

500 run sold out at MIE, but still up for pre-order at Boomkat: LINK

Pre-ordered this on Norman while ago. Ticks all my boxes. I love that you can hear the kids asking questions in the background while she's playing. And DCD gloomy? Never! :)
