A quick follow-up for those that so kindly supported me during my dust-up with CabinFloorRecords over them selling me Ecstasy of Gold, Volume 1, and sending me Volume 5.
In the end, the seller refused to pay for the return shipping, only refunding me my initial Paypal payment today after all was said and done. Tonight I will be leaving some appropriate feedback. On top of that, a copy of Django Unchained I ordered months ago from a different seller never arrived. I emailed the seller for updates, with no response. Only after opening a dispute with Paypal did the seller respond, claiming it "slipped his mind" and he never sent it. Furthermore, he would not send it now with an open Paypal dispute, nor would he issue a refund. I escalated to a claim and got my money back yesterday.
This is crap, right? Enough to swear a person off Ebay and Discogs completely.
This isn't that kind of story.
Last Sunday night, I spotted a non-descript Buy-It-Now Ecstasy of Gold listing on Ebay. Intrigued, I scrolled through the pics, and sure enough...it was a copy of Volume 1! I wasted no time snatching it up...for $20!!!
I also picked up the DW Maniac Flesh/Blood splatter, a rarity here in the US, still sealed for $25. And I ordered what I thought was a used copy of the Solaris reissue on Mirumir for $16 from Dusty Groove...but it ended up being this weird, awesome bootleg of the original Japanese press that usually fetches well over $100 on discogs and ebay...
Point is, sometimes we lose out. Sometimes record buying is an expensive, time consuming hassle. But those moments are few and far between. And the joys of our shared addiction...the rare find, the unbelievable steal, and the incredible MUSIC...make any bumps in the road more than worth it.
But just to be safe, I waited until Volume 1 was delivered, verified, and in hand before posting this. Just in case
