@basementhorror that is truly a bummer! I heard somewhere that there might be a repress, I really hope that this is true because I want to have them all in my collection.

As far as getting your money back, I'd say it shouldn't be too hard considering it was not your fault. It was advertised as something else so PayPal should be able to get you your money back... I hope

Thanks @reelybored. I knew the folks here on the board would feel my pain. And a repress would be glorious. I've been able to snag 2-5 without going way over retail, but I have a feeling that getting Volume 1 may prove pretty pricey. The last one I bid on sold for over $100. And I don't want to go there.

As for the seller, he admits his mistake and is willing to give me a refund for the record, but wants me to eat the shipping, throwing around phrases like "I'm only responsible for the record itself". I may have to involve Paypal at some point, just to get my initial shipping costs back, and will still be screwed for the cost of the return shipping. It's $5-$10 at the most, but in cases like this, principle is everything.

Discogs. Always so smooth and reliable, until it isn't.

That shit is outrageous. You did nothing wrong, were sent the wrong item, and should absolutely NOT be out of pocket in getting your full costs refunded. That seller needs to do the right thing - THEY should pay return postage if they want their incorrectly shipped item back. Total BS, and the kind of thing that sours online purchasing. Dyamm!

Yea, have to agree really. In a case where the seller sends you the wrong record it is bloody obvious he is in the wrong and should refund all return postage costs.

I would involve PayPal right away if he's not willing to give a full refund for the record + shipping + return shipping if he requires that.

And then of course leave negative feedback. And if he retaliates and also leaves negative feedback, you should contact Discogs, who can remove such feedback.

Paypal will definitely protect you. Wrong item sent, they will refund full amount, then you tell the seller to pay return p&p.

I had similar situation which paypal resolved quickly. It's called charge back!

Thanks for this, I bought the Re-animator and Under The Skin vinyls for decent prices from him.

So this is so weird, but i had a very similar thing happen to me, picked up a copy of Vol 1 on Discogs, realized i was all of a mile and a half from the store, so i called them up and just arranged to pick it up. when i got there, they had vol 2 set aside, not 1. one of the guys looked around a little weird and then came back with a copy of 1 after about 15 minutes of being in the back room. (so bizarre) but its really kind of odd how rare Vol 1 is and how hard it is to come by. anyway, good luck man, i hope you find it, that whole series is really special.

@brentonwalter

ahem, i thought we had agreed not to post auction items so that we don't inadvertently start outbidding each other?

I call dibs on this copy. ;)

@jmctodo

My bad!

It's all you! I'm dumping my money into super 8 film to finish my horror short so I wont be participating :)

cinevox simply needs to reissue it already!

@brentonwalter - need someone to create a score for your film?! I just completed a film score for a short film, and am about to start on the score for a documentary. I am absolutely interested in scoring horror films as well...

A quick follow-up for those that so kindly supported me during my dust-up with CabinFloorRecords over them selling me Ecstasy of Gold, Volume 1, and sending me Volume 5.

In the end, the seller refused to pay for the return shipping, only refunding me my initial Paypal payment today after all was said and done. Tonight I will be leaving some appropriate feedback. On top of that, a copy of Django Unchained I ordered months ago from a different seller never arrived. I emailed the seller for updates, with no response. Only after opening a dispute with Paypal did the seller respond, claiming it "slipped his mind" and he never sent it. Furthermore, he would not send it now with an open Paypal dispute, nor would he issue a refund. I escalated to a claim and got my money back yesterday.

This is crap, right? Enough to swear a person off Ebay and Discogs completely.

This isn't that kind of story.

Last Sunday night, I spotted a non-descript Buy-It-Now Ecstasy of Gold listing on Ebay. Intrigued, I scrolled through the pics, and sure enough...it was a copy of Volume 1! I wasted no time snatching it up...for $20!!!

I also picked up the DW Maniac Flesh/Blood splatter, a rarity here in the US, still sealed for $25. And I ordered what I thought was a used copy of the Solaris reissue on Mirumir for $16 from Dusty Groove...but it ended up being this weird, awesome bootleg of the original Japanese press that usually fetches well over $100 on discogs and ebay...

Point is, sometimes we lose out. Sometimes record buying is an expensive, time consuming hassle. But those moments are few and far between. And the joys of our shared addiction...the rare find, the unbelievable steal, and the incredible MUSIC...make any bumps in the road more than worth it.

But just to be safe, I waited until Volume 1 was delivered, verified, and in hand before posting this. Just in case ;)

...well I don't think it's a real bargain, but since WW edition is sold out and sold for 30€, maybe it is.

Insound is having 70% select items for a moving sale; the link to it is on the home page. Although there aren't a lot of soundtracks in there, I did see some. I picked up the 2013 Carrie LP for $14 (normally $44). There were some non-soundtrack items that people here would like, such as the latest Dustin O'Halloran CD and The Slasher Film Festival Strategy "Crimson Throne" CD, each for $4. If you search on the site, the search results have the prices a little higher; click to view the item, and the price will be cheaper.

thanks reddye6! I picked up a few things, also got Carrie, Eric Clapton Blues 5 lp box set I've had my eye on for a while, and a MOV reissue of Alan Parsons Gaudi, all for $75, that includes shipping. There were a few others I wanted but I had to control myself. :)
