Story time for those that care. I may have mentioned this in the past but here it is anyways. My youngest sister is 15 years younger than me. I used to watch her a lot for my mom and the summer post college that I moved home before finding my own place, I was watching Howl's Moving Castle, my sister came into my room to tell me something (she would have been around 6 or 7) she saw what was on the TV and just stared at it in awe. She slowly walked over to my couch and sat down, not saying a single word until the film finished a little over an hour later. About a year later I was living in a small apartment in a city about an hour away from my mom's and she needed some one to watch my sister so as a last resort I had to do it, early 20 something watching his 7 year old sister, not much at my tiny apartment other than a futon, TV, DVD's, records and videogames. So I thought maybe I'll show her some more Miyazaki, I put on Totoro and she just sat in front of the TV in awe of it, she loved it even more than Howl's (makes sense since the themes and imagery of Totoro are more playful). We finished the movie and it was time for her to go to bed but she begged me to let her watch it again, I did thinking she would fall asleep watching it, nope she watched the entire thing again and then went to bed. Since that day we've had a connection over Miyazaki films, every time she would come over I'd show her another. I ended up buying her all the DVD's eventually and to this day she still loves them. She even has a Totoro phone case. Having something like that to bond with a younger sibling is really nice and is a connection all these years later. It was awesome to see my little sister be simply struck by the beauty of Miyazaki films exactly the same way I was when I saw Kiki's, Nausicaa & Totoro when I was younger. Anyway long story short, hearing this music just gives me those feels as it brings back some nice memories I have related to the film.
This sounds pretty damn good. Happy to finally have it. It's one of the few Argento's I've never seen but I've loved the tracks I've sampled at times from the soundtrack. Very cool to finally give it a full listen.
