New expanded and remastered CD from Beat Records... also, vinyl release in 2018!

Image
2017 marks the 90th year since the birth of Lucio Fulci, a great director and artisan of the camera. Highly regarded for his stylistic contributions to the world of cinema, his movies are always notable for their expressive originality and great soundtracks. Such is the case with the purebred—or better, pure-furred—Cat in the Brain, which, according to Antonella Fulci, represents in the Roman director's body of work his cinematic cover version of ''My Way,'' a movie of excessive extremes with an explosive score by a Maestro who manages to echo Fulci's works through his music: Fabio Frizzi.
It's a psycho-sonic trip on a crazy pentagram, centrifuged by an electronic jacquerie united by a compositional vision, a small, musical, cosmic phenomenon filling a crystal container, to be admired by listening to it without touching so as not to be tainted by its dangerous beauty!

This unmissable, definitive CD release features 13 previously-unreleased tracks, mastering by Enrico De Gemini, wonderful liner notes by Fabio Frizzi and Antonella Fulci and a 12-page booklet designed by Daniele De Gemini.

For anyone who might have purchased a copy of the "Lake Nowhere" soundtrack from Two Headed Dog, I sent them an email asking for any updates on shipping. I got this reply:

"It get's tough sometimes to keep up with distributors & labels you have to constantly babysit. We contacted our distro looks like they forgot about us. As a courtesy they are going to send us copies of the dvd for us to give to customers. We should have it in stock shortly. All orders will ship immediately upon arrival. Thank you for your support & patience!"

That's nice that they responded to your email. I ordered two LP's from them 11/25, both stated they were in stock. Last week I decided to email them to see what was going on, no response, emailed them on monday of this week, no response. Finally order was marked shipped on Wed and they sent an email "sorry been under the weather". How does it take 4 weeks to ship product? On top of that he was posting to Facebook and Instagram last week about shipping out the Brass Hearse records. This has compounded my frustration with them since my John Carpenter Anthology LP took 5 weeks from release date to delivery at my door step which I pre-ordered 2 months in advance.

Yeah I’m having a similar delay issue with them, and unfortunately the item is a gift so I feel extra annoyed about it.

This was a heavy haul for the holidays. Half of my orders didn't come in but family members still told me what I was getting.

The three that I actually received were Akira OST (a beautiful 2LP set, which came with a really cool PDF download), Ty Segall - S/T and Ennio Moricone - Il Grande Silenzio (which is one of my favorite Morricone scores).

In the mail that's being delivered in a week or two John Carpenter - Escape From NY and Cadabra Records release of HP Lovecrafts The Picture In The House with original music composed by Fabio Frizzi.

And the final record which I'm insanely excited for is the 4xLP release of the Cuphead soundtrack. That is a thing of beauty and can't wait for it arrive sometime this year.

Very, very cool indeed. Need to get the Cadabra myself, and also now v.intrigued by Il Grande Silenzio which I'm not familiar with.

@ScoJo - Sergio Corbucci directing Jean-Louis Trintignant and Klaus Kinski in a snow-covered Italian-French spaghetti western, and it just happens to feature a fine-cut gem of a Morricone score with some really beautiful orchestrations. The OG '68 album on Parade is very difficult to find, and it was also reissued by Beat Records ten years later in multiple pressings as the first release in their Collector's Series (CR-1). Those reissues all sell for ~$100+ USD though. Thankfully, Dagored reissued the album last year as well.

If you are a fan of Morricone or Western scores it is a must own. Honestly I haven't been able to see the film yet and just became obsessed with the score a few years ago.

@inksb

Highly recommend the film. lots of white (snow) followed by lots red (blood). I'm not a western aficionado but would say don't be put off by the lack of directorial finesse most are familiar with from Leone. The story and build up through the movie is great all the way to the very end.

And agreed one of my fave morricone scores.

Oh it's on my list, although I'm waiting patiently for a bluray. The DVD is decent from what I can tell and there is a Japanese bluray of it as well but that's just an upscale of the DVD and not a true HD source. I really want to see it but I have enough movies that I've bought and haven't watched yet to make the wait a little better.

I listened to that Akira release today and it's fantastic. The sound was better than I expected. The packaging is beautiful as well. Really happy with it.

Corbucci is Leone without the “restraint” if that even makes sense. The dollars trilogy are without a doubt the jewel of that genre, but for my money the next bunch in a top ten would probably be his. Navajo joe, Django, the great silence, and the mercenary are all fantastic.

I listened to the Friday the 13th Part IV LP from Waxworks last night, it's a thing of beauty. I do feel like they ripped us off though, it's double LP at 45RPM, this could have easily been one LP at 33 but then they would not have been able to charge $36. The packaging is beautiful, the matte finish contrasted with the gloss of the blood and mask is quite stunning in person and pictures online don't really do it justice. Highly recommended for those that are fans of the series.

I watched Il Grande Silenzio last night on youtube. Really enjoyed it. Picked up the Dagored release with the quickness.
