As I mentioned a few days ago, I thought this release might have a very large response. Selling out 1,500 deluxe copies is no joke, but for many (myself included), this is indeed our favorite horror film of all time -- yes, even above Evil Dead 2. ;)
In my opinion, the score itself is an integral part of the experience. I was fortunate to catch a digital screening of the film a year or two ago, and when amplified, those minimal synths just seep right into your brain. Some of the tracks ratchet up the anxiety and paranoia to almost unbearable levels. I have seen the film more times than any other horror film, but every viewing is an enjoyable experience. Don't even get me started on the practical effects -- "too wet"? BS!
I do wish this was an expanded edition, but given the situation with Carpenter adding his own cues, it might be difficult to "resolve" such a licensing situation effectively. Ah well, I think it might be fun to create a custom handmade "lost tape" of the expanded bootleg album... eh, @ScoJo?
