I liked Milliondollars record post on animals on acid track on the Musax label, with an album called Animaux 2. It sounded like world music with jazz in the ancient age. I liked it.

With this record I hoped something on the same lines on the same label as above but instead got a good jazz rock funk album by Paul Baile. It's not great great but there is some interesting time travel through time on the end of both sides. Plus, I don't have a bunch of these kind of records.

I also got a Kirchin record which I knew was good and it was indeed good stuff. I like ethnic music mixed with jazz so this was perfect for it. It has some classic tracks that sounds like Kirchin only could make. Recommended.

really love that Basil Kirchin Bruton. also congrats on the Paul Baile. absolutely love the cover art and according discogs it is produces by Jacky Giordano so it can't be a bad record. never had the chance so get that one. Musax label is highly collectible and rarely shows up. have some good ones but still look for the other good ones, haha!

Picked up my Waxwork Comics order from the postal office. Had 14,56 euro customs charges on top of it. That is 1,56 tax + 13 handling fee for calculating the tax. Waxwork stated the full value of 14,95 times two for the two comics inside. They have ever right to do so of course. It was my stupid mistake to choose the DHL cheaper shipping option. With USPS I have never had any custom charges. Also it took three weeks to arrive.
DHL: you suck.

I know complaining about customs and shipping costs gets old very quick. But needed to let this out. Rant over!

DHL certainly seems like the rougher option when shipping abroad from the US.

PS - Who was it that broke down shipping and import/export/customs fees for us in here? Those posts should be stickied. Useful and entertaining.

Have to say I've had good experiences with DHL, with deliveries from Japan anyway.

They are much quicker, they don't retain my parcels but rather send them if I have or have not paid the customs fee. You don't have to wait for for a letter in the post to arrive to pay the fee, they text me very early on if a fee will be due.

Sometimes there doesn't seem to be a handling fee, at least it's not highlighted, for example sometimes I have to pay like £3.

But I have also been stung by DHL, maybe from the US? I'm not sure. The expenses seem no different from royal mail, who now seem to check everything.

I do find DHL generally to be quicker.

I've had royal mail lose my records in customs adding weeks to the delivery time, thankfully found again though.

The UK Mail service seems to be really slow relative to other countries. I've had records from Japan make their way to the British border in under 24 hours, then I have to wait over a week to have the records in my clammy grasp :) :P

And, of course two of the latest DWRC releases. Even though I'm on the fence about their Space:1999 release, I really like the current direction of the label.

Very nice selection of records. I still need 3 of those. Especially Jungle Trap. I wanted to get it from Transmission but they sold out of their stack. So I'll probably get it later on with another Mondo order.

I think all the releases on those obi's were already mentioned, except for Frankenstein 80. I have never heard of that one. But the short bits I heard from youtube sound very promising. It is another score by Daniele Patucchi and sounds really different from the Wild Beasts score as far as I can tell know. Wild Beasts being from 1984 and Frankenstein 80 from 1972 makes the latter probably sound more like a lot of those Italian scores from the early 1970's. In my opinion a very good thing :-)

@$1,000,000.00 - I never did get the first WW pressing of Creepshow, but my understanding is that, save for vinyl color, it is identical to the second.

Actually waxwork effed up the first pressing of creepshow (there's a track repeated somewhere on side 2 instead of what's actually listed) so the later pressings are superior in that regard. They didn't offer any discounts or anything to people who bought the first pressing even though they screwed it up so I refused to buy another copy.

Oh yeah. I do remember that. For some reason I thought that was an issue with certain pressings of DOTD. They never owned up to the error? That would infuriate me as well.

So I looked into this a little bit and it seems as if the first (5 variants), second (2 variants), and third (2 variants)pressings are have the same covers and booklets. The first pressing had the track issues LazyBen brought up, but the second and third pressings contain the corrected tracks. Also, one variant of the second pressing came with a slipmat and a print of the Creeper while the other variant came with just the print and no mat. Okay, I think we've done it, gang. Take a bow.

Although I paid a bit more than the $7.98 price tag, this is holy treasure for my Morricone Dias Irae collection, and I even found a minty black/silver label pressing inside. The sleeve beneath that ugly plastic wrap is fully laminated on both sides (!), and even has those funky Italian tweaks on the corners:

Agreed, thewaystation! I have a lowly reissue of this and I think it's a stunning record. Right up there with Extrasensorial (The Link) for me. Great stuff, Deaf. What a treat that must've been.

The extra tracks from what I remember don't stand out so much, but it all adds to the score as a whole. Aside from the unreleased tracks it's a really solid reissue with some brilliant archival artwork for the movie displayed in the gatefold. There may be some nice liner notes too, but I can't remember.

I personally would go for the reissue and put the saved money towards other Morricone related goodies :)
Having said that og copies seem to be going for fairly respectable prices on discogs compared to other vintage Beat lps
