Great spins, Static. RIP that crazy gangster, Walter Becker. On our looooong Labor Day drive back from vacay today, we streamed several of The Dan's finest records, but you best believe we wound it up with Aja. One of my all time favorite bands. I got to see them live last Summer from the front row. Crazy story that I'll try to remember to tell when I not so road buzzed. What a loss.

And you know I'm with you on that Isham LP.

Now I'm off to pick up Thai food before we try to make it through the last four(!) hours of Twin Peaks: The Return. I don't know if I can pull this off tonight, but I fear spoilers more than fatigue so here goes nothin'.

really enjoying this massive 2LP set right now. apparently it is quite unknown still and a box with unplayed copies must have had popped up somewhere. too bad some idiots purchased as many as they could get in order to sell these for big bucks. the usual procedure when something like this appears.

the composers were more or less unknown to me. Carnini I know for his appearance on the Beat Drammatico Underground Pop Elettronico library record with Brugnolini.

anyway, the music was made for another sea documentary series for italian TV (damn, how many documentaries about the sea were made in italy???) and is absolutely brilliant. you won't think this one came in 1983. super mellow ambience with a electronic touch. true beauty and worth looking for...

@Dollar: i envy you for your japanese anime scores!

some years ago i visited a collector in Honk Kong and he has offered ma a big pile of these for peanuts. i was really not into that type of thing back then and have passed on them but today somehow i regret it. going there again in october so let' see what he has still...

Hit me up if you have any questions, or any trade lists ;). be careful if you are paying more than peanuts, and also by saying that be aware that some gems are cheap and shouldn't be slept on.
I would say the mid to late 80's stuff is more niche than the early 80's and 70's stuff. Also a lot of the 70's BGM stuff was actually released in the early 80s.

Be wary that an anime film may have several releases connected to it e.g. BGM/OST, Hit Song collection, image album (usually a synth re-score), symphonic suite version or Drama edition (not good if you don't speak Japanese :D)
There are a few English drama lps though, like the yamato box set I previously posted.

@deaf&Mateo: that's what i'm trying to tell. there must have been a box with unplayed deadstock copies somewhere. Beat records were selling these for 30 € on their homepage:

seems to be unavailable now but if i were you, i would try to ask them if they might have more copies in their warehouse. it is possible that this was never available until recently because there is almost no occurrence on the internet on this release.

on a side note, this seems to be one of the very few 2LP scores that i know from that time period which makes it a little special...

Warm, deep 70s jazz/funk thriller feels to be had here, great score for a killer little cult Canuck movie. I always get Michael Small/Wojiech Kilar/Dave Grusin vibes from the melodies on this one for some reason...

Recent spins/acquisitions

The LP is, I think, the bgm for the Tokusatsu series Megaloman. CQ-7022 by Seiji Yokoyama. The session band on this record I'm sure are the same as on CQ-7057 dracula Sovereign of The Damned. Not quite as good as that record but still damn classy stuff.

Cheers, Japanese vinyl can be addictive :D, and a lot of it can be surprisingly cheap.
Saying that, I'm determined not to spend all my record money on Japanese records this month, as there is so much good new stuff out, or about to come out at the mo.
