@static - Nice spins for Tobe Hooper, RIP. Yet another director passes away this year.

Mixing these two heavy hitters today:

Stoked to hear the entire anthology album in the near future. I really enjoy the sound on these two cuts.

Last two tribute spins before hitting the sack. I'll champion Lifeforce to my grave! And a wondrous (atypical for the composer) Mancini score to boot.

Whatever the prevailing wind/scuttlebutt/rumours are on this one, the funfair darkness and gleeful attack on the American Dream in this movie will always scream Hooper to me.

The mastering on this sounds incredible. The clarity of the orchestra is riveting with blaring, thudding brass and alien tribal percussion. A lot of the tracks move along at a really brisk tempo, with interposing military/war themes from horns and strings. I know this was on a few of our wishlists, but I did not expect to see it on vinyl, especially a double LP. The infrared version looks a bit like the Chrome logo -_-, and my copy has some faint rumble in parts, but it's not too noticeable against the loud pressing. I'm going to give it a good cleaning and a fresh listen and will report back.

I would be curious to hear how the hazy camo version sounds.
Thanks for that review deaf. I have a green & brown "camo" varient on preorder from SoundStage Direct; so I'll be one of the last ones to get this much wanted release, but I'm hopeful from your positive opinion on this drop!

Awesome cover, $1,000,000. Ya gotta love how dude is basically in a full spacesuit underwater and his sheba is rocking nothing but a mask and some dental floss. Plus robotmonsterfuturesubs? Count me in.

I just took a look at what I think is his instagram and he posted as early as yesterday so hopefully he and his are all right.

Can't believe what's going on down there. I was right in the path for Sandy when it hit New York and that was one hell of an experience I don't care to repeat, and this is much much worse, I can't even imagine. hope everything gets better there soon.

I'm afraid it's going to be a long while for too many people. I have friends that are refugees from Katrina who never returned. Flood insurance is mostly a bad joke in the US, and too expensive for those who need it most. There is also terrible flooding in India and Nepal right now with far more confirmed dead, but I'm afraid the numbers will only keep going up in Texas as well. Will avoid the politics, but plenty of empathy all around for what is going on down there.

I missed all the TX flood talk. Of course my best goes out to Tex and his nearest and dearest. I have a friends right now in Austin, San Antonio, the Dallas area, and McKinney; they have said it's been pretty peachy all things considered. Unfortunately, I know a fellow from NE of Houston and he went from dry, to trying to putting his records in the attic, to evacuating his famiky from hip deep water in their living room in the span of fourteen hours. Lots of devastation. Really sad.

Good news. And by some weird synchronicity I watched Cat's Eye this eve, and now spinning Silvestri's awesome score to that one.

Wish we could get a release of Fandango at some point, another on my on grail list.

Thanks for the thoughts!! We stayed very dry in Dallas! Some friends in Houston not so lucky though. Bad situation down there, it'll probably take 10 years to get back to normal.
