Some new tapes came in today. Really good stuff here. On the double, Barry Lynn sheds his skin and tries on more of an ambient aesthetic. It suits him fine. The Reanimation Library tape is a celebration of the broadcast presentation of the written word that ran on NTS Radio a year or so back. Not everyone's cup of tea to be certain, yet I find it both joyous and comforting.
It is perfectly suited for cassette. Links with descriptions and sound samples below.

Haha! So do I. We have Mrs Sanboval to thank for the lovely succulent garden. And the atomic breakfast table it sits upon as well, come to think of it.

@Mateo - Nice photos. Succulents can be tricky with our PacNW sunlight. Looks great. Dig the table too.

Ooh, jealous of that'n, Deaf. Cannot wait for my SOS care package to arrive.

Speaking of tapes, as we were, anyone here have a copy of that new BBC Radiophonic cassette? The first track sounds good, but from what I've heard, I'm not up for the side B remix.

Hi @Mateo - have the Radiophonic Workshop tape in hand - arrived super quick from Bleep.

Side A is an electronic suite they composed to soundtrack an exhibition, and I must say was one of the highlights of the concert they gave at the Science Museum, London, last Friday night.... really ebbs and flows, with some discordant bits and 'prettier' sections... much like their just released Burials... LP in fact.

When I heard it at the concert, I was thinking in my head 'I hope they release this in some shape or other'.... so when I discovered that was what was on the tape, I was extra pleased I'd ordered a copy.

Am with you regarding Side B, as I thought a remix of Side A would be less than essential, but it is very much its own thing and not simply a repeat of side A.

Anyway from my perspective this was a tape that was totally worth getting. :)

I was also quite amused that, as the Radiophonic Workshop started off making electronic music by cutting up bits of tape way back when, their latest release should actually be a tape.

(PS - massive thanx for picking up that tape @Deaf & hope yours lands soon @Mateo)

@Spun - I went through two full listens of 400 Days while working on a project, and could have flipped it for yet another listen if I had the time. Really nice soundscapes to sink into.

Recent arrivals...

A beautiful piece of music from one of my favorite creators (and fellow Cascadian).

No better way to wait for 400 Days that with another new WoGo release.

The latest cassette from Polypores via Concrete Tapes. I bought it sight unseen so looking forward to cracking into this one.

They did indeed, sir. Thanks again. As to storage, I keep them in old tape carrying cases that I find at thrift stores from time to time, but I'm looking for a modestly sized, disused card catalog cabinet for a more permanent solution.

I keep my tapes everywhere :-)
Every time I visit a thrift store I am looking for those rotating tape thingies though. Would love to get one.

@Deaf: great tape! Actually one of my first purchases when I started playing cassette's again.

Nice scores @Mateo... do you have many shops selling 2nd hand tapes over in the States... they're certainly very rare here in the UK... can only think of one in fact :)

Couple of recent cassette pick ups/ acquisitions....

You've gone full Scriven!

Like any second hand store, it's hit or miss, Spun. Largely relying on donations and the like. What we do have a lot of is second hand music stores in my area and about half of them sell tapes. Sometimes one can find a gem or three, but you often pay a bit more than you would at the local Goodwill.

PS - I don't think I knew there was a Synchronicity tape (which is awesome) and I'm honestly not sure what Crash & Burn is unless it's the 90s 'sequel' to Robot Jox.

Hi @Mateo

Crash & Burn is the soundtrack to a forthcoming graphic novel by Lakeshore Records' own A&R/design head honcho John Bergin... he's the guy behind the sleeves for the (non Mondo) Drive LPs and pretty much anything Invada have released of late that's been licensed from Lakeshore...

Synchronicity is a new one... would have loved to have released that one on Spun (the Mondo release of the score was a big favourite for me), but not at the stage where I can afford to buy the rights to everything groovy :) If you know the score you'll know it's well worth bagging on K7.

And yeah, Scrivin's a recent find for me prompted by the Tomorrow's World cassette release. Well done if you like your 80s sounding synths.
