Hope it all goes well, Static. I'm with ScoJ on this; I loathe moving. In fact, the Sanbovals are heading for a big move two years down the road and that very notion makes my ass itch so badly that I'm already starting to shed skin and thin herds now.

Had a couple of doozies on the platter that matters, the last couple of days....one brand new (and superb) and the other only new to me....and amazing.

This is honestly one of my favourite releases for some time - really liked the film (and Oz Perkins just keeps getting better and better - did you all see I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives I The House?) and loved the score, so it was a no-brainer picking up this Mondo release - but man, the sleeve design for this is just something else. There's also a terrific surprise within which I won't spoil. All in all, this is what I'm in the game for guys. 10/10. (Also, there's a really weird gnarly old song in the film which I would have SWORN was an old recording, but it does indeed sound like it's an Elvis Perkins concoction with the man himself on vocals. Seriously unnerving!)

Next up: how in the fuck, I ask myself quite seriously, did I manage to avoid this film and score for so long??

Holy fuck! Righteous props to my main man @Dollarhyde for pointing me in the direction of this astonishing, dreamlike anime from '85, and then going the whole nine yards and sorting out a mint copy of the score for me too. I am genuinely knocked the heck out by this movie, so ridiculously up my street that it's not true. And the music is beyond beautiful - as a listen, it's probably my favourite anime score that I've ever heard, but more than that it is just an incredible orchestral piece full stop. I can see that this is going to be one of those LPs that I'll need to jump on a spare copy if I can, because I'm in danger of wearing this out already!

Thanks again @Dollar, you are my Man of the Match this week :D

I need to watch it again, thoroughly enjoyed it first time round and definitely stuck in my head for a time afterwards.

Hyper light drifter Is certainly more Fez than it follows. Although all three have a distinct 'disasterpeace' sound. It's very very epic (over 2 hours long) but not big and bombastic, definitely Sci fi. I wouldn't say beat driven though. Some nice paino and keyboard motifs and lots of ambient electronic whooshes and whirrs :)

I think you can stream it at his bandcamp.

oh nice @reddye6, I didn't know Kholat was released on vinyl ! If it wasnt so expensive for me to import I'd have gotten one. I just can't afford it at the moment. But it goes on the wishlist.

@Scojo: Looove the Blackcoat's Daughter !I think I prefer that movie to I am the Pretty Thing, but I enjoyed both very much and will check whatever Oz Perkins does next. Great stuff on the score, I have only one spin up to now but it's definitely a keeper. I'm not super impressed by the cover art (it's fine), but all the inside stuff (gatefold and insert) I like.
