@JR, no need to apologise. I'm very envious of your extended spinning.

Bronx Warriors and New Barbarians have been regular spins for me in recent months.

What do you think of that Jack White compilation? I like JW in his various incarnations, but I just couldn't get into that comp. The alternative mixes were interesting to hear, but on the whole it just fell a bit flat for me. Listened to it a couple of times, not sure I'll go back to it.

1990 and The New Barbarians are two of my favorites as well. Endlessly listenable for me.

we are a little old school in my house, and every night we eat at the table and have a spin of a soundtrack whilst we consume.

Tonight...

I brought Red and White...didn't know what you'd be serving.

Probably my favourite Mondo release, Charles Gross' superbly unsettling, complex orchestral score for a cult classic.
The music is fascinating (disco cheese-cut aside, though that's also pretty darn listenable) and the sleeve notes are
everything you want from a 'how did the score happen' recollection-and backed with a Blue Sunshine sheet of acid tabs to boot.

But what really pushed the whole release over the cliff is Jay Shaw's incredible, world-beating sleeve art/design which presents the film's plot and themes as a Kafka nightmare-in-blue, referencing the brilliant style of his beloved Eastern European designers without imitating in the slightest. I absolutely friggin love this release! I also lucked out and scored the random blue-translucent vinyl, as a bonus cherry on the cake (which was thanks to the always-excellent @lazyben, I recall...)

If you don't have this under-appreciated score I can't recommend it highly enough!

A truly bizarre low-budget film. Well worth a watch. The score is a favorite of mine as well. Probably my third favorite Mondo release. Shaw's print hangs at my home.

I haven't spun this one in a long time...possibly not since it originally released actually. I need to remedy that post haste.

Moving from hippie drug nightmare to kissing the devil's arse. Everyone has this, right? One of the very best English folk-horror scores (in an admittedly narrow field.)

I may try and sync this music to A Field in England one day, and see if some kind of dark temporal warp opens up and swallows me...

The funny thing about that print was that it hung around for quite a while. Most Shaw stuff did back in the day. He got a lot of obscure properties back then and I don't think most folks had warmed up to his style yet. Even more so than now, Mondo was all about the modern comic style of poster art. People slit throats to move up one place in line for a chance at the latest collection of floating heads, but you could grab a Shaw all day long.

@Scojo & @Mateo : Blue Sunshine is truly an essential release from Mondo. Fantastic cover art, great great creepy soundtrack and much love for the disco track in there. It's a cool little gem of a cult movie too. I never tried to rate the releases from Mondo/ Dw / OWS etc but this one is definitely a great release. Add me to the jealous people, Mateo, your poster must look great on the wall.
