Killer jams! One of my very favourite 70s paranoia/conspiracy scores by the great Michael Small, right up there with All the Presidents Men, The Parallax View and Marathon Man. I only have the Harkit boot-of-a-boot sadly, but at least it sounds ok. 'Bree's Abandon' though eh? Hot fire!

Side A is a beautifully lulling electro forest dreamland filled with soothing mellotron and synth flutes. But then Side B suddenly plunges you into a Hellish nightmare - kindof like paradise's descent into darkness in the movie Legend (well, that's what I'm imagining...) It does calm again eventually, and the natural order is somewhat restored. All in all, a powerful and bracing journey! All of the trademark Froese/TD mid-70s synth sounds are present, will go down just fine with you if you dig Phaedra/Rubicon etc. This one's on Virgin also. And has a nudie little boy looking coy across the centre gatefold, which gave me pause when I was looking over the condition before buying in a crowded store!!

i have the first 6 solo records on vinyl, it would be hard for me to decide on a favorite. i find myself listening to kamikaze 1989 a lot, its got them crazy hooks.

i still need to pick up Pinnacles, the last of the 80's solo records. not an expensive record but i have never seen it in the wild.

When I first tried to listen to it (from one of these file sharing sites) at the time when I was trying to hunt down every electronic score from the late 70ties/early 80ties because I hoped they would all sound like Carpenter or Blade Runner - I did not like it at all.

Over the years people were recommending it more and more, it popped up on the occasional best of (synth horror scores) lists etc. so I finally bought it on itunes last year - and on vinyl this year because I just love it now.

BTW I have 2 of these as I bought another copy after the first one was clearly overgraded by the seller - bought it as NM but it has a fair amount of constant crackle/surface noise so that is a (solid) VG.

However, I got a full refund for it and could keep the record which was a nice gesture by the seller (they still made some money on me as I have bought other records from them). To make a long story short I would give away that copy (as mentioned sound VG, sleeve is VG+) to someone on here who would enjoy having it (you would need to cover my shipping costs, around €10 for Euope and most other parts of the world). So pm me if you are interested (first come first serve).
