Been a while since I've seen it, but big +1 from me. I watched it 2 or 3 times back when it first came out. Solid film. The only feature I'm aware he directed. I was surprised he didn't do more after Frailty.

Sad to hear of his passing. He featured in so many memorable scenes in films that will be remembered for a long time.

An actor that most of us who frequent this place grew up with. I can't count how many times I've watched Weird Science. Even though he's only in it for a few minutes I've watched The Terminator a couple of times the last month. Very sad news to say the least.

Any of you cats remember this show? It's Chris Snow's other show not called the X-Files. It has the feel of the X-Files, but sithout thr humor and it's about serial killers. So far anyhow. It's pretty good, but I can see why it didn't capture folsom the same as X-Files did. It does star Lance Henrickson so that's a good thing. Despite seeing a couple of episodes when they first ran in the mid 90s, I'd quite forgotten this existed. Last year, I finished watching the X-Files and there was a tie-in episode that reminded me of it. We'll see how far I get.

Somehow the image you posted doesn't show up on my browser (have had this issue before with other images) but I'm pretty sure you are talking about Millennium. I enjoyed the show quite a lot when it aired in the late 90ties.

However, I was not absolutely hooked, had no probem with letting some weeks pass before watching another episode. This also might have been due to the fact that it aired on Friday night in Germany (when my viewing habits needed to compete with other endeavours).

I was just thinking that Will Graham (rather the incarnation from Manhunter than from the Hannibal series) could have become like Frank Black (what a name) a few years down the road.
It wouldn't surprise me if this show holds up pretty well and I might end up checking out a few episodes myself.

You have it exactly, Chris, and your analysis is spot on from my vantage point. I always have a series or two going. I watch a whole or part of an episode here and there to unwind. No rush. Usually after work in the wee hours of the AM. This is fitting the bill right now.

Oh, and I always thought his name was cool, too. I wonder if someone involved in the show was a Pixies fan.

Really enjoyed this show at the time, and re- watched it all on dvd when it was released. Under-rated but, as you say, you can see why it was less accessible than the X-Files. My recollection is of a third season dip, but I could be wrong about that. The first 2 were pretty consistently good. Henriksen is always good value, like his fellow Terminator cameo, Mr Paxton.

A Simple Plan.

Continuing to rewatch as many Bill Paxton movies as possible. Along with Frailty this has to be his strongest straight dramatic role. So great, and the rest of the cast are his equal.

I recall Raimi surprised a lot of people with this one - his first straight drama. He stepped into another director's shoes on the film, but did an incredible job crafting a moral suspense story. (What would you do?)

Terrific score by Elfman seals the deal.

What a coincidence. I never even heard of this movie before watching it a week ago.
My girlfriend did not like it at all. I really did.
I was looking for some more seventies movies I or my girl hadn't seen.
Started with Serpico: brilliant!
A week later: Badlands: brilliant!
Another week later: Night Moves: interesting!

After watching Badlands again I went looking for the score. Apparently it was never released on any format. So someone: please do!

I'm probably going to replace my old VHS copy of Night Moves with a Blu-ray or a DVD at some point. So much great dialogue in the film from Hackman. I always thought it was a film that needed a second viewing. The ending is is the icing on the cake!

Hahahaha, how nuts was that thing? yeah I thought about glover a little. to me it was also very gilliam/cronenberg/waters, so bizarre and perfect and off-putting. I liken James Caan in that movie to Scheider in Naked Lunch...how on earth did that casting happen and thank the stars it did.

as for the friend who lent it to me, the challenge was to give each other weird movies the other one hadn't seen, which can be VERY difficult. This was his trade to me...and i gave him the visitor. He was floored. best moment was late at night when he was watching it, and i get this text "Ok...wasn't ready for Franco Nero Space Jesus close up"

I still haven't seen 10 Cloverfield Lane yet. I did see Get Out this morning. It was quite good. Not really horror as much as a suspense film or psychological thriller loaded up with some great dark humor. The social commentary is definitely there, but not overdone in my opinion. The score was interesting and effective and they used a few songs quite well, too.

Then I saw John Wick Chapter 2 this afternoon. I love mindless action films and I love well shot action (none of this shaky cam bullshit). This was a really fun movie and a worthy sequel. The score is a hard pass for me. There was a concert scene with some real over the top histrionics from the band and it made me think that a producer must've just seen Fury Road and fallen in love with the Doof Warrior. Had that same vibe, but less interesting. And even more distracting. Otherwise, cool flick.

Ah, yes. The post-credits stinger. I think the first one of these I can remember was when my parents rented us the VHS of Young Sherlock Holmes. It kind if blew my little mind. Thankfully I was a good nerd in my youth and always stayed through the credit because, well, I liked the credits!
