For anyone who missed the drop Sun eve (label's first birthday) we have two soundtrack or soundtrack-style new tapes up, selling strongly at Bandcamp (both in the top 5 of all cassettes) and available through the usual distros... Transmission, Norman Records, Two Headed Dog, with big thanks to each.

Artwork by Eric Adrian Lee, who you'll know from his art for all our favourite soundtrack labels.

Digital available as well. :)

Goodnight just casually coming off the top rope with a new release heads up like it hasn't been two bleeding years!! What's up, mang?

On topic, I saw this earlier on LITA and made a mental note to look into it. I must've accidentally thrown that note out.

@Cigs - I've had my eye on that reissue as well, especially having priced out the Braen's OG a few times without success.

FYI - Frizzi's Contraband and the new Pentagram Home Video LP are both up for sale at mondotees.com now.

For us Frizzi completists... this looks, um, interesting - record with a comic or vice versa...

(@deaf, you may have some intel on this, I wonder?)

Weren't Waxwork supposed to be doing something similar this year as well (i.e a comic line with vinyl records)?

Not really updates, per se, but it sounds like they've pretty firm plans.

@Spun @jgibbs - Yes, looks like this will be included with Zombie #4 comic from Eibon Press. I would assume the main Zombi 2 theme (Seq. 08) along with possibly a new mix on the B-side. I wonder if it's this Ryan Franks? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1766391/

I have been picking up these comics, along with the new Gates of Hell #1. @Spun - If you are interested in these, let me know, as I don't believe they will ship to the UK.

Eibon Press/Stephen Romano have previously explored the Frizzi/Fulci realm on both comics/soundtracks: https://www.discogs.com/label/33434-Bla ... eart-Media

Good intel @deaf & jgibbs4053 ... thanks for that, the comics & music connection makes sense now.

Must admit Franks was a name that threw me also.

@ deaf Be happy to take up your kind offer for this l'il red devil... I did pick up the first two issues from an eBay re-seller but the shipping & sterling conversion was getting horrendous so knocked it on the head after that.

Speaking of Broadcast as we were just now, just found this forthcoming LP online (Children of Alice feat. members of Broadcast + the Focus Group) - oooff, this design & package is doing strange things to me:

Is this the actual Ace Ventura soundtrack or just a tribute to the Ace Ventura soundtrack wherein the label's house band records cover versions of all the songs from the film the label can afford the right to?

Here's the next round of Spettro releases (that I can dig up), again divided into a series of soundtracks and library records. Release date is a bit unclear but seems like early March.

The OSTs:

Carlo Rustichelli - Stuntman (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4L5GJUoW0Hw)
Gianni Ferrio - Il Killer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAlMJ0-MTmY)
Piero Umiliani - Il Dono Del Nilo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-57mMP-wxOg)
Piero Piccioni - Una Vita Violenta (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xy-RUKM6PS4)

The Library Records:

New Sound Quartet - Crazy Colors
Modern Sound Quartet - Horoscope (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy8dnSUtxG4)
Astral Dimension - Galassia M81 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMnUQw1prQI)
Oscar Rocchi & Tullio De Piscopo - Metamorphosis (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ47kWCC9FA)
Fabio Fabor/Antonio Arena - Superman (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-yu9Yd36Mg)

Thanks for the links, GNC! What's the consensus on the Spettro releases thus far?

@Mateo I bought the entire last batch and thought they were all pretty great when it comes to the actual music. Each of the OSTs is pure killer, but some of the library ones are maybe a tad left-field for some peeps, like the Ruscigan/Umilani and the Casa, and that pure-vocal, church-like Alessandroni isn't for everyone (but it will grow on you believe it or not).

The only grumble I have is that, while the vinyl itself seems pretty top-notch (I got the coloured ones), the records maybe aren't as, well, "warm" as they should be. Like the audio is a tiny bit tinny or flat somehow. It's not major or a dealbreaker, but it's just something I picked up on. Did anyone else notice this?

All and all, though, super happy with the first batch, so will be splurging on the next, even though I'm less familiar with the library titles this time.

Awesome info, man. Thanks again. I'm going to sample these puppies in the AM. Certainly welcome any other Spettro opinions as well.

I think I understand what you mean as I am now listing to Giornata Nera Per L'Ariete and it does sound very screechy in the high parts. In the now spinning thread I will investigate further :-)

edit - after listening and comparing I definitely agree with you goodnight. And indeed no dealbreaker! Still terrific releases.
Looking forward to the next batch. Killer titles!

This is great news as well. Now hoping that his two other giallo scores are going to get a release: Top Sensation and The Red Headed Corpse aka La rossa dalla pelle che scotta.

Thanks for all the testing on the Spetrro titles! And proving my ears aren't totally playing tricks on me. It's definitely not a "defect" but just something that's kinda noticeable. So personally I'll be happily diving into that next batch.

I too have been picking up as many Easy Tempo things as I can find, typically more IRL than online, though, since the prices are so jacked up now. I've had some pretty good luck over the years, but definitely missing a bunch still.

@Cig, thanks for the heads-up, hadn't been aware of these but am definitely interested.

@Mateo, I had written my 2cents on my ipad but then, after breakfast, everything that I had written was gone. Meanwhile, Bez has more than answered your question. It's only for me to echo the previous assessments then. I picked up three of the library titles (Disagio Sociale, Idee 1, Bass Modulations) and am very happy with these. I'm not keen on new cover designs when the originals are so legendary (and indeed great) but - if that makes sense - as a series they work better than I had thought they would. I'm curious if Spettro stick to their in-house design for their new library titles. There are liner notes on an obi strip, by the way, in Italian.

As to the sound, others are /will be much better qualified to comment than I am. The three records mentioned earlier don't sound too aggressive to me (unlike what Bez has reported re some of the scores). If anything, they are a bit subdued, maybe lacking a tiny bit in dynamic range. Nothing, however, that ever prevented me from enjoying the releases. Which I have - that Ruscigan has totally taken me by surprise and must be among my favourite reissues of last year.

From the tracks that cig has linked to it would indeed appear that the first batch was much more experimental than the new titles.

Thanks, TWS! I agree that the first batch seemed more experimental. Now on to the task of picking and choosing...
