I was listening to Morricone's score to Bluebeard on Spotify yesterday (deciding if I wanted to add it to my vinyl collection-hell yes!) and parts of it reminded me of this so today it gets a spin.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Romero
Creepshow - John Harrison
Varèse Sarabande ‎– STV 81160
Waxwords did a wonderful job but sometimes I just have to spin the original.

Also on the table this morning, 2 scores from Christopher (or Chris back then) Young. Every fan of his should have these in their collection.

Got Power but don't have Pranks. One day I'll try to pick it up, when there's a lesser amount of good releases being put out, or when I see it at a record fair. I'm also missing Bat21 and Flowers In The Attic and then I'll be good with the early releases. after that most of his scores are on CD or tapes. I do wish someone would release Sinister on vinyl. great stuff from Young on that soundtrack.

Some great stuff in here today.

@Tim - I've neither seen nor heard those two Young scores, but I will effort to comply with your edict.

@Bez - That Rambo poster is head to toe legitimate. I went from 6 to 12 o'clock when I saw that beauty.

@ScoJo - 1492?! What an unexpected turn of events. I've passed that up before for reasons I cannot now recall, but they must not have been good enough. Going to have to listen to that record.

And I second Static's endorsement of The Kindred. Fun movie. I could've sworn I watched it in the last year or two on Netflix or Amazon, but I can't find it now.

This is a fucking terrible record hahaha. Check out these phat rhymes:

"Your record was smokin' but you sound like a girl"

"I don't get even I get hard, tard"

"Jack the ripper...Down with my zipper...Trying to knock the way I rock, get off my jock"

One of my all-time favorite movies... I've lived my whole life in the suburban office park sprawl of DFW and work in a cubicle farm...almost 20 years later it's as relevant as ever.

@Bez - That Rambo poster, haha! I remember hearing stories about the film from other kids in school before ever getting a chance to view it. Forbidden fruit! You are picking up some excellent Japanese pressings, nicely done.

@tim - Fantastic run, always great to see The Beastmaster on the table. Also, more unknown material for me to have a listen to, thanks.

@Jimmy_Mike - Arrival was quite the experience, and is highly recommended. I'm looking forward to another viewing in the near future.

@texas - Office Space is still essential viewing, imho. How does the OST hold up?

Anybody else adore Carter Burwell? Both of these scores are gems:

J'adore Carter Burwell! :D

Here's a cool Art of the Score interview between Alec Baldwin, CB and the Coens:

I fell in love 5mins after my first viewing of Blood Simple on VHS - I was super excited to rent it because the video release poster was so great/intriguing. I've never been able to find one, but from memory the blurb was something like:

"It's Texas Chainsaw Massacre out of Les Diaboliques.
It's Double Indemnity out of The Postman Always Rings Twice.
And it is still terrifyingly original."

Anyway...I rushed out to my local HMV megastore which had a great selection of soundtrack LPs and bought the OG on TER (also a double bill with Raising Arizona like the Varese release, but with a great flip sleeve showing full poster art for each film :)

Is anyone familiar with the early 1992 thriller STORYVILLE, written and directed by Mark Frost with James Spader? That has a great Burwell score which was released on CD:

The OOP DVD is collectible and pricey, but it's apparently on Netflix US and turns out the whole movie is on YT, I highly recommend!

Another Carter Burwell fan here. I don't have either double bill, but they look just fine. I've said this before, but his Hail, Caesar! score was one of the most pleasing listens of last year yet largely unheralded.

I've a similar experience to ScoJo in that the poster for Blood Simple captivated my imagination and I was not let down when I was finally able to rent the tape. Also, I haven't seen Storyville in ages. Time for a revisit.

Well.....that was weird.

RIP The Axe. Jesus. We lost a master there.

Great release! I don't think I've ever seen a green transparent vinyl like this one before. It has a stunning metallic finish to it. Nice sounding record too.

Thanks, monsterworship! I'm still hoping that hhv.de will get these in by end of next week when I will be placing my order for Fire Walk with Me and Roma Violenta. If not, then I now have an alternative to go to.
