Bez - I find myself intimidated by that thing you play your records on. I thought this was a safe space?
I did not know anything about that thing when I first saw it in Dawn of the Dead. After that I needed to have it. Thank you internet for giving me all knowledge. My deck is the same. My receiver is the model that came after the one featured in the clip below. It is magic! We are talking 1978 or thereabouts.

Funny thing is that when he places the record on the deck, the head shell with needle is not yet attached.

I enjoy Basket Case much more than I thought I would. Bought the digital version on Bandcamp but think I'll "upgrade".
And Thief is an absolute winner. :) It's the Audio Fidelity version you have, right?
Basket Case is indeed better than expected for me as well.
My Thief version is a simple but good sounding one that I got for 5 euro in a record fair:

That's dead lovely, Vape. I know nothing about this, but I am going to stream the rest of the album at work today. Chin chin!

@Mateo- yes sir...great minds:)

@Bezulsqy- I'm really impressed with Basket Case too. It's a much better score than I thought it would be. There's some great horns on that one.

@vinyljunkie- I thought FWWM was a week or so away from shipping. How is it? Enjoy!

Packaging gorgeous -- LP1 had a few pops and crackles that will hopefully disappear with a good cleaning, LP2 is slightly warped but thankfully my cartridge was able to track it fine without jumping -- sounds fantastic! glad they let the music breathe with 2 LPs

I got lucky and snagged a copy at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn which had a few for sale in conjunction with the screening of the film this weekend -- sounds quality is great, packaging beautiful! Just my 2nd LP is slightly warped...

Latest two Mondo's just touched down.... Vol 2 of Paura (ordered via the Static Club) is, incredibly, better than the first to these ears (could have used a more exciting font for the cover text perhaps, tho').

Winged Victory for the Sullen is best summed up in the word 'sublime'.

Slightly twee side of Frizzi on the Assassino score in places, but any Nicolai fan will know the Scorpion score has plenty of sting!

This is basically my first month's haul of 2017 & now in rotation...

If any one of you fine, upstanding, cultured gentlemen has a reasonably good/priced copy of Seriously Deep you'd maybe like to move on to a fellow merry funkster.... ;D

@ spun: great start of 2017
@ spun and million: tomorrow I get to play my copy of that fantastic Nicolai for the first time
@ scojo: I am not familiar at all with Axelrod. When I read your post the first thought was of Beverly Hills Cop...

@Bez -

Really? Ahh man...where to begin! (btw nice BHCop reference ;)

Imagine, if you will, that Lalo Schifrin was a west coast American and he took a fuck load of smack and looked into the heart of God. This one will no doubt sound a bit....urm...familiar...

It still amazes me that DA was never involve in film scoring. At all. In any way. Mind boggles at the possibilities.....

@million - he's the Don Daddy alright.

PRIDE is on my wants list for sure, along with the Mccallum stuff which I've bizarrely never gotten serious about sourcing. Like a complete fool :D

Glad I bought one of these. It's really good. I've passed on most of the VGM releases, but this is much better than I expected. It is really a love letter to everything from early 8 bit & 16 bit to Ratatat, Aphex Twin and Kanye West. I'm going have to check out the game now... Just a fantastic game score.

Very classy for a vgm release! More like a new Radiohead single or something... both tracks are vocals, kind of an indie electronic rock vibe. Hard to believe it's for a video game. Randy Ortiz cover looks cool, clear/black splatter wax.

@vinyljunkie - Fire Walk With Me looks fantastic. Can't wait.
@texas - What is that first VGM LP?
Mateo Sanboval wrote:@ScoJo - This score is a must-own. It ticks all of the boxes. Excited to hear that the pressing is top notch; I was nervous and went with the teleporter haze as a result (less colors, etc.)
Catching up from the previous pages... (great to see all the wax!)

@Mateo @ScoJo @bpwlogan - My "fog green" copy arrived from 2HD:

The vinyl is a very light and pale green. It is quite satisfying to hold a 180gm Varèse Sarabande repress in hand:
ImageSounds clean, remarkably so. I also have to recommend picking this up if you don't have it. Shore's music is dark and wondrous throughout.
Mateo Sanboval wrote:@deaf - Looks great, old son! How does she sound?
@Mateo re: Scorpion with Two Tails PD - It sounds better than I was expecting. On my copy, there is some audible surface noise on the into/outro edge grooves of the tracks on each side, but then it sinks down due to the loud pressing. The first percussion-only track is sparse, but sounded nice and wide. Lots of cymbals without distortion. Audible noise again between tracks. It's more noticeable with headphones than through stereo speakers. Hope that helps.

It does indeed! Your impressions of SwTT are appreciated. And that haze looks absolutely dynamite, by the bye.

Superb in every way possible. A bit speechless upon taking this in... just incredible times to be a music enthusiast and vinyl record collector. This is about as good as it gets, and Nicolai always seems to sparkle. It almost sounds like golden fingers playing across the album.

Death Waltz burning very brightly, and with highly interesting titles listed in the coming soon section on the back of the obi strip, which also has brief liner notes on the front. The thick gatefold sleeve is the icing on the 2LP giallo cake, and there is even a nice bonus repro mini-poster tucked inside.
ImageI really appreciate extras like this, and the care and attention to detail is evident.
