Got to cataloguing my Vangelis today, and decided to marathon his soundtrack work on LP (I have around 20 non-OSTs too...)

Firstly, a cracker. Almost a companion to BR in many ways.

Excellent collection. For a long while, was the only way to legit get material from BR too.

Lovely re-issue of very hard-to-find early score. Beautiful themes on here, quite minimal.

For me, film 'meh', elevated by an amazing score.

Worth it for the incredble 'Le Petite Filles de la Mer' alone. (This is the back sleeve btw, which I just really dig)

Stunning re-issue of another 'lost' early work, again quite gentle and minimal but still filled with hallmark Vangelis wonderment.

Perhaps a lesser known OST by Mr Pappathanassiou, but pretty damn great - we're in the world of Savage Beasts so things get very percussive/tribal in parts with great mix of real drums and electronic.

I love Antarctica and agree that Amore was a nice surprise. I know of L'Apocalypse des Animaux, but have never heard it. I'll find one someday.

"Can it be there's some sort of an error
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end not some crazy dream?

Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me
When I try to speak"

I should consider picking up the WW repress of this at some point. If I can find one on the cheap I'd like to hear some of the bonus cuts of this score.

I wouldn't even call the WW a repress of this. Its vastly different and superior to the original release. A must have. It only contains the John Harrison score stuff, so no Sputsy or the A side songs are on the WW release.

Not to "discount" the original release I still love it just the same. i've always bought them up when i see them in local shops. I've sold at least 30 copies of the the LP and around 50 of the 7"s on the cheap. The original label "Saturn Records" was from Pittsburgh, so they sold their remaining stock to a local store who trickled them out over the years. Now people are pricing it in the 30-50 in local shops so that ship has sailed. I'm still holding out for some stock of the orig. cassette release that is lurking around in a warehouse.
Also i think i mentioned before that the name Lunaris was a bit of a nod to Saturn as well, space shit.

@monster - Well said. After hearing the expanded Waxwork edition, the original soundtrack album feels like a "teaser" with the much-abridged Harrison suite on side B.

Finally scored a copy of this! One of my favorite Giallo scores of all time...

That Orlandi is really good!

Freshly delivered Gerhard Heinz sleaze. As fun as it is to have a drawer full of ladyfinger vibrators, I would definitely love if Jay 86'ed the vibrators and took the price down on these.

@deaf -

Nice early Aphex sticker :)

I am really enjoying revisiting this classic 80s sci-fi horror score - my OG T.E.R copy is pretty worn out so I tend not to spin very much, really appreciate this re-issue. It's the first time it's been pressed on wax since '86, and Varese have scored a winner - the pressing is as good as you'd expect, despite being on two colour haze vinyl (online exclusive - there is also a 'Teleporter' version which is solid pale green.) The lenticular front sleeve is pretty damn rad, with animation of Brundle emerging from pod using OG film poster elements. My only quibble is that the lenticular is only 'spot' glued onto the front (I can peer beneath and see that the OG Varese front sleeve is back there! It's almost like the lenticular was an afterthought...)but it's hardly a big thing. I may try and add some extra glue to the edges to 'seal the deal'.

If you're teetering on this one, I'd say jump in. The price is very good, and it's actually a case for a score which fully deserves to be repressed for this era. My Shore section looks so damn healthy these days!! :D

@ScoJo - This score is a must-own. It ticks all of the boxes. Excited to hear that the pressing is top notch; I was nervous and went with the teleporter haze as a result (less colors, etc.)

@deaf - Looks great, old son! How does she sound?

@monster- interesting information on the Saturn Records release of DOTD. I bought mine a few years back. I paid around ten dollars for it, and it was sealed too. I always wondered why there were so many sealed copies of this floating around. I'll have to pick up the WW edition if I can find one. I don't see them doing another repress of it, but you never know.

@Scojo- That's great news on The Fly. I jumped on the teleporter haze varient because it's a solid color. I think Varese is doing great work with their vinyl reissues. I picked up Scream & Blue Velvet in the past year and they sound great. Looking forward to getting this in the mail from 2HD this week!

Waxwork did say they are going to repress DOTD. And the way the put it it sounded like this year. But with them you never know the timeline for sure.

ALL lenticular covers are done this way, i think only a few places print them so they probably farm that work out else where and then assemble them in the factory. dr octagon, F13 etc.
