I've had a pretty good week up to now.

Although, my copy of sortilegio sound really bad. there's some marks on it like it's been scrubbed, and there's noise in skips that happens all the way through. I've already sent an email to ask for a replacement, and it's disappointing because that's the title I was the most looking forward to. I picked up the Black Emanuelle's Groove dagored compilation at my local shop, I was surprise to find it in the used box, and even though I already have the Black Emanuelle and Orient Reportage LPs from dagored, as well as the Death Waltz Emanuelle Perche' Violenza Alle Donne, I couldn't resist picking it up.

Nice pile, Nate. And Black Emmanuelle is a nice find. That stinks about Sortilegio. Mine's not arrived yet. How is the Howling?

@Bez - A full net of Japanese 45's! I would love to get a copy of Orca some day.

@Nathan - So many of those LP's are on my want list. I have been meaning to pick up Sortilegio and The Paganini Horror, but I keep putting it off. How is Satan's Slave?

edit; typo

Yeah it stinks about Sortilegio, but I just got an email confirmation that Juno is sending me a replacement copy. Hopefully it's not a batch of their copies that have the same defect, and this replacement copy will be fine.

I spun my copy of the Howling late yesterday and it's amazing. It sounds really good, it looks damn good, I'm really into Francavilla's art. BUT. I guess I,m unlucky these days, I got a small scratch on the last track, all the way through, and it ruins the track. At least it's a minor track, but I'm on the fence on wether I should ask a replacement or not bother.

I think Sortilegio ends up on my year's end best off list. Do keep an eye on it Deaf. I still have to listen to Paganini, but I did give a spin to Satan's slave. I think it's great, it's not that expensive, it's a single sleeve with no insert but there are interesting liner notes from the director and the label owner on the back cover. Music wise, it's definitely got that end of 60's/70's occult vibe. It makes me think of Manos, in the way that it's eerie and odd with it's use of strings and piano in a loose and minimal jazzy vibe and some concrete music experimetal stuff in there, to create suspensful noises, tension.... it's better produced than Manos though. The main instrument seems to be a clarinet, playing a melody that's more modern mystery than gothic. There's a bit of ritualistic rhytms in there, but it stays more musical than ritualistic. the main theme plays in different ways throughout some of the tracks. They are mostly short cues, some of them 15 to 45 seconds, most tracks around 1:50 to 2:20. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised, I'd recommend you preview it.

I've never had a Tentacoli of any pedigree in my collection. Been getting jealous of those ever since Spencer first posted a picture of his in the fledgling days of STBC. Gorgeous stuff.

@Spun @million$ - Interrabang sounds like a must. I would also like a reissue of Pisano's Movie Saundtrack LP.
Interrabang is pretty cool. I have one of the DejaVu reissues from 2004. Originals are way too pricey! Glad to see Dagored managed not to butcher the awesome original cover art.

Finally ponied up three dimes and got my ass to Mars:

Delightful space romp by Goldsmith, and with a main theme that almost seems inspired by Poledouris's Conan the Barbarian, or perhaps it's just the ever-present Schwarzenegger connection. ;)

Really fun score indeed, Deaf. I've notice that Verhoeven goes on jags with composers, but I believe Poledouris and Goldsmith are the only ones he ever returned to after moving on to a different composer. In this case, each other.

I have been checking WRWTFWW's webpage every day waiting for the "extra copies of Zomib 3" that were touted many months ago. I missed out on the pre-order, but am so set on getting a green copy of it!

I hear you - same for me, have been checking their site regularily.
Won't come in your way re the green copy ;-)
I'd be happy with the red version (the green one supposedly has dialog on side B at the end, I'm not a big fan of dialog/excerpts from the movie on scores).

Pre-ordered a while back, and more recently had the email asking if I wanted to go red or green vinyl, but after that radio silence... would guess they're still stuck at the pressing plant or whatever.

Re: Zombi 3

My hope is that the label went back to the plant and doubled/tripled the original order (and added the new version) based on the near-instant sell out of the title -- primarily because I want a copy!
