I Am The Pretty Thing That ives In The House.
Brilliant slow burn, literary mood piece, directed by Anthony Perkins son Oz!
Astonishing score by his brother Elvis....a surreal, hauntological dream, dashed with Americana.
If you are into the eerie, minimalist stuff like The Witch, Under the Skin (as well as classic ghost story stuff like MR James, Shirley Jackson) this might just do it for you. More of an art piece than a 'regular' movie. For some crazy reason, I kept thinking of one of my all time favourites, Death Bed!
I already demand the soundtrack on vinyl! I can imagine it as a conceptual release - weaving the score, sound design
and narration into a total listening experience (which would be terrifying, tbh!)
It's on Netflix right now people, get your weird-ass Hallowe'en groove on!
