+1 skeleton

I don't have the first pressing but want to pick this up, but with the collapse of the £ and the almost-certain Customs charges, it'll be too much for me. The wording made it sound like the variant was Mondo exclusive, so hoping there's a retail version. Happy if anyone could confirm.

ChrisMcQueen007 wrote:Hi there everyone,
After having lurked the forum for quite some time and finally been able to join I struggled a bit with what kind of witty comment and/or groundbreaking news I should contribute in my first post.

Anyways, great to be onboard. I just saw that Mondo is re-releasing Maniac:
@ChrisMcQueen007 - Welcome to the forum! There is a new member introduction thread buried somewhere, I will see if I could find it and bump it up in the list.

Given all the clamoring and high prices for earlier pressings, I am surprised Maniac has not sold out yet. I am also hoping that it will get retail distribution, as it's really a score that should be celebrated far and wide.

Also, not sure if anybody else noticed, but the web store version of Monster Squad is "Amulet Green" vinyl. The version at MondoCon was a red splatter. Another four variants possibly? ;D

I have to say that I'm really thrilled to finally have The Fountain on vinyl. I think it's a beautiful presentation, and it has a nice booklet with a long interview with Mansell, etc. I hope to get a solid listening session in this coming weekend. My copy on CD is battered and nearly worn out from hundreds of listens, being in and out of my car, etc. I always thought this album was stuck in some kind of weird limbo, but at the Soundtrack Panel forum, Mo from Mondo explained how the licensing issue was finally resolved without any drama, and their quality pressing of Black Swan helped to move things along.

I still don't have this score on vinyl. Only a bootleg cassette that I regularly play. I passed on this new Maniac pressing because I already spend too much this month. And to get Maniac over here it will cost me around $50. For the release of The Night Evelyn Comes Out Of The Grave I was happy to pay that. But not again this month. Maybe next month when combing it with another release?

Looking forward to the release of Fight Club. Very curious to see how it's going to look. I am expecting an IKEA-like marketing campaign for it.

Anybody 'round here picking up the Daredevil or Jessica Jones scores tomorrow? Or the Luke Cage from a couple of weeks back? I have enjoyed what I've seen of Daredevil alright, but the score is not my cup of tea. The description of the Jessica Jones score intrigues me though I've never seen the show. I'm definitely picking up the Luke Cage release, however. That show is pretty fun, but the score is excellent. Ali Shaheed Muhammad's pedigree is well known and Adrian Younge is straight fire. I have most of his work and there's not a bad apple in the peck.

@Mateo: is the Luke Cage score sample based music? like hip hop instrumentals or similar?

What Tex said. Younge does use samples sometimes, but he is a multi-instrumentalist and mostly creates and "samples" his own sounds is how I understand things. Either way, he's top of the pops.

I dont really know him but I did think that the music was really good when I was watching the show. The Luke Cage 2Lp is on my wishlist,I think I'll pick up DD and JJ to complete the set but I dont really remember the music from these 2 shows

Only one left now...

I picked up Cannibal Apocalypse and Absurd as well. Been meaning to replace my damaged copy of Apocalypse, but had been on the fence about Absurd for some time now. Today seemed like a good day for a little retail therapy so I said Image

You did good Mateo. Absurd is a beautiful looking record, and the music is good. My personal spinning history with it says that maybe it's a bit too long because I mostly listen to one disc at a time (alternating between disc 1 and disc 2) and then skip to another album, but both disc are good, and I think it's a overall solid soundtrack, musically.

To be fair, It's rare that I go through 2 discs of the same release anyway, I have a tendency to want to spin something different everytime I finish the spin of a single disc.

I'd rate Absurd 5/7 (*^▽^)b

Yeah I actually know the guy who printed these. They are in Dallas and I have used the same treatment for a client. Its a coating made from silica that when it gets wet goes transparent and reveals the layer underneath and then dries back opaque. Its really cool stuff and they invented it. This is going to be a very cool package.

In case you were wondering, it can be wet and dried very many times without damage to the paper stock which is coated to handle it.

Man, that Gremlins looks like a great gimmick. I resisted Home Alone last year and still kind of regret it. Not sure if I'll hold off or cave in on this one. Speaking of caving, did anyone by one (cough-two-cough) of the Fight Club today?

Yes I caved and bought approximately one copy of Fight Club.
