Great spins everybody. Fun to see everybody getting into the season, and the Waxwork catalog just seems so fitting. @tim - Nice run!

^Those two Halloween albums are an interesting contrast of OST styles. I typically prefer soundtracks without dialogue, so I would go with the Varese pressing, but I would love to know more about the "Spacesizer 360 System Recording" and who put it together. It was released four years before the Varese album, and seems to feature a different version of the main title theme. I like to alternate listens between the two albums. Add in the expanded 2LP on Mondo for yet another version.

It's a grey and dreary Sunday before Halloween here in the Pacific NW, and this album is nailing all the right notes in bombastic fashion. Badass and bold, really enjoying this. Also digging the Francavilla artwork:

@spun, to begin with there is dialog and sound effects in the Japanese import. The second is the recording uses a "Spacesizer 360 System Recording". Not really sure what that is but it gives the recording a different feel. Of course the Varese Saraande release is just John Carpenter's music. As for which is better, I think they both are really good, it just depends on my mood as to which I spin. I had the import first before the Sarabande release was available. youtube link below to the Japanese import.

This is awesome! Amazing they basically just scrapped the movie and forgot about the score for 40 years. I have never heard of the composer Silvano D'Auria. It's very funky and good.

The other Four Flies release, the Alessandroni, is also good. But I think it needed to be a double LP, the output is really low and needs a lot of gain boost to sound right.

This was a blind buy for me. I know nothing of the movie or the sore but it's on the Varese Sarabande label so of course I got it. Wow! It has 2 Miklos Roza scores Last Embrace and Lydia. Last Embrace is great. Reminds me a bit of James Bernard's score to Dracula, just not nearly as frantic. Lydia is a very nice piano score. Scojo, if you haven't already acquired this in your quest for Varese Sarabande I don't think you would be disappointed.

I made a list of giallo movies from the 1963 up to 1979 (189 films) and noted the composer of each film. The goal is to get all the scores or 45's to match the movies... I am never going to succeed but I am going to die trying!
Franco Pontenza only scored one of those 189. And it is a great one! After hearing this I definitely want to hear more of him.

Sounds quite good, and I really wish I could have attended the live concert. If this is any indication of the quality for the upcoming rescore album, then I will be checking it out immediately. It also increases my desire for an original copy of the OST, which is frustrating. :)
