I saw this poster for the first time today. Missed the screening last weekend, but have a chance to see this on Thursday in 4K.

4K looked so good!

I am getting to see SHIN GODZILLA next week and am really hoping it kicks ass. Only playing a few days next week at the drafthouse at least in Dallas.

Phantasm was a blast. The restored print looked amazing, and the sound was just thundering. I know I have mentioned this before while we viewed the film here during STBC film club, but it has the highest level mix of the musical score that I can ever remember hearing in a horror film. Crystalline synths and groaning choruses summoning The Tall Man. The crowd was really into the film, and it received a lot of applause at the credits. I think more than a few people in the audience were seeing the film for the first time, because the first sphere death sent some people into hysterics. Good times!

@texas - I am taking my little brother to Shin Godzilla next weekend. The US distributor only received a license to screen the film from October 11th-18th. I am glad it's in Japanese with subtitles though. The trailer looks great.

As I read the above post I am sitting in front of the building Debbie harry comes out of in the very beginning, the wrap arounds were all filmed in my neighborhood and if the camera had kept going you would seen the storefront I'm sitting in front of at the very moment. I believe it was still a baskin Robbins at the time. The camera would have been on the roof of the building next to me. Image attached :)

SHIN GODZILLA was pretty awesome, only screening this week in the US. It was equal parts cheesy, funny, scary, and I think pretty true to spirit. Worth seeing!

@Scojo Richard Band's best in my opinion! I'd be in heaven if someone released it on vinyl.

True Story:

early 2014 I had inquired about doing HOSR. The money he wanted was a bit more than I could afford to spend at the time.
and I didn't feel I could sell any where close to 1000 units to make it back. About 6 months went by and I reached out again, but never got a response. Then Intrada or someone reissued a CD version, so I moved on.

@monster

Dang that's a shame, sure you would have killed it as ever. Have to agree with @Static, one of Band's very best.

As for the film...that clown scare at the end gets me every time! :O

Shin Godzilla!

The film was a lot of fun. I also enjoyed all the political humor, which seemed to be a large part of the film. Glad I made the effort to see this on the big screen. The large creature destruction shots were epic.

@deaf One of my favorite movies of all time, this and the second are childhood staples for me and I watch them regularly.

Last night was my Halloween horrorthon, had a bunch of people come over, ordered some pizza and indulged in the following:

Bride of reanimator
Texas chainsaw massacre part 2
Halloween (of course)
Trick r treat

And then after they all left I was still pretty awake so I watched night of the demons on my own.

Today I popped in Halloween 2 and will proceed in that fashion until I finish H2O.
