I'll be in NYC next weekend and I'm looking for record shops with great used/new soundtrack sections. Any tips would be highly appreciated! :)

Good luck man, i feel like we've dropped the ball on record shops lately. Second hand rose on 12th had a great selection but he's overpriced as hell. Academy is alright, otherwise I would say you may have to truck over to Brooklyn and see what they've got there. Unfortunately the record scene ain't what it used to be here, especially for crate digging. Generation records may have beefed up their selection in the last year or so, it's been a while since I've been in there.

I don't know where you'll be, but my local shop about an hour north of the city has a pretty solid soundtrack section, it's called clockwork records and he's the only game in the whole county believe it or not. It's in a town called Hastings, probably an hours train ride out of grand central, maybe less.

Was just there last weekend and earlier in the summer. Here is my definitive list:

My one two three choices are all in walking distance to each other.
1. Academy Records, 85 Oak St, Brooklyn, NY 11222
Academy isn't the best for soundtracks, but is the best and most affordable used place for weird or rock records. Love this store!

2. Captured Tracks Shop, 195 Calyer St, Brooklyn, NY 11222
Tiny used shop in a basement, but manage to get a lot of great records, they have a nice small soundtrack selection.
Found a few popul vuh last time.

3. Record Grouch, 986 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222
The grouch has a nice little new soundtrack section, a finders keepers section and lots of other niche stuff.

Material World x- Heaven st, 184 Noll St, Brooklyn, NY 11237
Still haven't been but their Instagram always has some great stuff.

Human Head Records, 168 Johnson Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206

Earwax Records, 167 N 9th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211

Black gold, 461 Court St, Brooklyn, NY 11231

Oh yeah, I always forget the real academy is in Brooklyn. I always went to the annex which was cool just small.

Good luck man, enjoy your trip!
