This a dark, brooding gem that is dripping with atmosphere. The interspersed songs are almost off-putting at first, but I find that they add to the overall reality of the experience. Excellent and creepy.

I've had this for about a week and I'm finally getting a chance to spin it. TG has raved about this one and I must agree, it's wonderful. I think this will take a few listens before I am able to spin it with the lights out.

@bpwlogan, no, I ordered from Norman Records when it was first announced.

Ok Tim thanks. I don't think mine has shipped yet. I haven't received any shipment notification from 2HD.

@ScoJo - Ah, I actually picked it up from Reckless Records, just across the road. Small world! :)

Had eyed up a couple of copies online before, but hadn't bit. So then seeing that one in front of me... well, it wasn't a hard decision. Also found a pic disk of Schulmachen Report at same time - felt a little sheepish at the counter asking if I could 'examine' it before buying

The 'Z' sounds fine by the way - has a few minor surface scratches but don't seem to have affected the playing.

@scojo Z is great, various moanings over moog, i think you'd dig it.

i always pick up extra copies when i see them since they are usually in the $5-$10 range, i had sent my last extra to friend as a gift.

Hahaha... I have this picture disc, and I find this to be incredibly amusing.

Not the biggest fan of the cover art for this (maybe I'm missing something?) but the 'colour in colour' vinyl treatment is one of the most successful examples I've ever seen... plus naturally the music - ambient electronica par excellence - is out of this world.

For fans of Vangelis, Martinez (Solaris score in particular) etc

Also, is it just me or is STBC on the quiet side lately...? Where are the regulars who used to populate this thread/board..? Missing the vinyl 'firebrands' :)

@spun - That is such a great Nicolai album. I find it interesting that the opening track on the reissue, Saba, was left off the original LP. I just adore that tune, and it gets stuck in my head. Anybody know if it was ever released as a 45? Sospetto performed an excellent cover of the song recently that was released by Cineploit on 45, and it was also included on their LP.

The Manhattan Baby reissues arrived today from the label:

Not sure whether to blame Poste Italiane or USPS, but my box was heavily battered and crushed. The vinyl is ok, but my 36-year-old original Beat LP sleeve is now in better condition that this new one. ;) Side B of the reissue contains additional material and themes that were not on the original LP (which is really only side A on the Beat LP). Many of the additional themes are reprisals of the first four on side A, but at slightly different arrangements and tempos. There is also the brief Egyptian theme in Sequence 5, which is performed by the Frizzi 2 Fulci band in their set, as well as a couple sax solos which seem to be going for a NYC vibe. Not a bad effort here, but no new sleeve notes, or even a reproduction of the short notes from the Beat CD. Anyway, it's good to have another copy for when I eventually wear out my original copy.

Just wonderful.

I think with summer upon us, there might be more folks getting some sunshine outside (hopefully), but it's still raining off and on here in Portland. Good to see @static spinning some wax as well. Hope you are all having a great weekend. I'm about to start on my John Carpenter spoiler thread post.
