Of the upcoming 7 Sonor music releases for RSD 2016 (which will be available via Bandcamp too I'm told) would you consider any of them essential and not to miss? Any advice would be appreciated. I know I can go online and find out as much info as I can but it would be great to get some honest opinions.

The Atmosfere Fonit 7001 is for me a must have, originals of the Fonit 7000 series are very, very hard to get.

I don't know the RSD list for Sonor (or even if these two are included) but they are the only two I see on Sonor's Facebook.

C 364 and Fonit 7001 are awesome. C 364 I've been after for years. Fonit 7001 I know would be far too expensive if a copy even turned up for sale.

UST 86 is also good

Sesso matto less essential, I have a Japanese pressing and I think there are other versions too.

The others I am not familiar with, but C 364 and Fonit 7001 are exciting reissues

The Sciascia Rhythms release for RSD from Roundtable is also really good.

some of the new Sonor releases are hot, no doubt! in the end everybody has to decide for himself. i really hope they will keep their bandcamp and supply the digital files. this has been a big bonus especially for people [like me], who don't know all the stuff...

this one has been on the platter for the past two days as it went perfectly with the beautiful weather during the public holidays. as the kids stayed in the garden for most of the time, even my neighbours were forced to "enjoy" the record as i played it extra loud, haha! he is still one of the very best for me. such a beautiful record...

I was on a dig at Amoeba recently, and I stumbled across this library label from San Diego:

Anybody else familiar with this label? It looks like it was active in the 70's-80's. The sound quality is great, and I picked up these two for just a few bucks. 80's funk-bass and brass on this Up-Tempo LP.

@deaf: nice find! i recognize the label but never heard anything from it. american library records are quite rare and seldom seen. the discographies are still almost undocumented to this day. i think the Network label is another proof for that. apparently there must be over 60 volumes issued but only a fraction of that is listed on discogs (which is kind of an indicator for me).

there's some big amerian fish i am after for years but will probably never catch... :(

here's one american library that i was after for a long time. finally found a reasonable priced copy. since it contains cues used in the famous Dirk Diggler documentary which appear only on this record it is quite sought after but it was not the reason i was after it...

It looks like the Network library label really improved their package quality about halfway through their catalog with the "Whisperdisc" branding. Check out the notes on the thick inner sleeve:


It is definitely the first LP I have ever purchased that included a rice paper vinyl sleeve. The vinyl does sound amazing.

All that said, the actual music on this LP is obviously nowhere near the quality of the Italian masters of the 60's/70's, but there is something fun about having a library record with some good 80's funk-bass. I'll rip a couple tracks and post them here.

Just a courtesy heads up about MRR's first official Drumetrics release. Very cool triangular 10" , looks like they've sold 2/3 in the first few hours so these will probably be gone soon. This was an insta-buy for me despite the price which is admittedly high. Also grabbed a T-shirt.
