Thanks guys ! Hopefully the Shining gets re-released at some point, but I'm very glad I found a Japanese edition of it. I have a spare Japanese promo copy without obi if anyone is looking for it.

I started today's spinning session with a great recent album from Godspeed You Black Emperor (who did that song when Jim walks through the city, alone, in 28 days later). Favorite song from that album : Piss Crowns are Trebled. That part at 6:55 up to the end is wonderful.

Currently spinning this split of stoner/doom metal from 2 classic bands. I actually saw Electric Wizard live in Montreal for their Time to Die tour, here in Montreal. Loudest show I've seen, with great projections of occult horror movie clips in the background.

Electric Wizard are great. I saw them perform in Portland last year, and it was a killer show, and with the background projection you described. Lots of bloody tits, heh.

Nathan, I'm actually on one of those family vacations I was talking about, so I will be living vicariously through all your spins this coming week. Great stuff, The Shining really needs a reissue and should be in everybody's collection. The whole album is a mindfuck, and I especially enjoy the two Wendy Carlos tracks. She released a CD with all the unused material that Kubrick rejected. It's an interesting listen.

hehe yeah lots of blood and tits and skulls in those projections. and hair. I never saw Liz Buckingham's face throughout the show, she was like a creepy samara playing and headbanging on stage. I'll have to track down theses rejected Wendy Carlos tracks to check them out. Enjoy the family vacation, Deaf, stay out of creepy hotels !

after that backward satanic song from Reverend Bizarre, I thought it would fit to follow up with the surreal industrial world of Tetsuo the Iron Man

if you google the label's name that released Tetsuo, it seems to be a home label from Shinya Tsukamoto, the director. I hope he gets to releasing other of his soundtracks, I'd love to own a "Snake of June" soundtrack. I also got around to watching Tokyo Fist, a month or two ago, and I think I remember some tracks being really cool.

To follow up on this, a great great spin of industrial and creepy electro. I just love this release from Giallo Disco, one of their best : the soundtrack to the short movie BASKIN.

The full length movie of Baskin is going to be released on VOD on...march 25th I believe, along with the digital soundtrack, and later on a CD version. If its at all similar to the tracks from the short, it's gonna be great. I'm looking forward to that a lot.

I heartily second the notion of exploring the full Carlos score. At its zenith, it's superb, as you'd expect, and never worse than fascinating to hear the cues and play the film in your head. The breadth of the release is pretty impressive.

Indeed it is, but I figured it would be cool to post since the others are, as you say, long out of print and, again, it is freakishly complete. The Rediscovering Lost Scores has a couple of tracks that Carlos composed for Split Second, which is an awesome Buddy-Cop-vs-Satan-Dressed-As-Alien-In-A-Low-Budget-Blade-Runnerish-Setting-Action-Scifi-Horro-Comedy film. I had no idea that this was the case. I can't wait to listen to those cuts with that film in mind what a trip.

@Mateo - I'm sold on that film description. I don't have either CD release, just some digital files of the lost scores. Do you have the unofficial one?

@Nathan - solid run today! How is Last House...?

Has its moments, but the cynic in me hears a lot of "big generic action music" bullshittery. The first time you hear more of the JunkieXL influence is a track that is indiscernible from Mad Max. You of course hear Zimmer rehash previous major thematic elements from his Batman and Superman works. The winners IMHO are the quieter passages that maintain some semblance of character and emotion...well, emotion other than BIG, EXCITING ACTION SEQUENCE!!!

Triple vinyl with etched F side, tri-fold, with a big poster of the front cover. Pressing quality is on par with other water tower, that is generally good and dynamic but with a lack of consistent sound quality (pops, hisses in some random places).

It gets maybe a 3/5 from me. Maybe I'll feel differently after I see the movie, but I admit to being very cynical about this and pretty much every new Superhero! Action! Big! movie coming out these days (Captain America 23, X-men 88, MixedAllTheHeroesTogether 5, TotallyUnnecessaryHeroMovie 4 etc).

Normally don't post my electronic stuff here, but this one is worth checking out. It's a compilation of Peruvian underground electronic music (all from Lima, Peru) that fuses elements of techno/electronic, dubstep, cumbia/Latin and at times chiptune, synth and bass music. Some real bangers on here.

Check this one out: Qechuaboi - iseecumbiapeopleagain (chiptune cumbia!)

I'm still unsure how to describe it. it's a bit creepy but not overtly. more like eerie. it has a night music vibe. it plays very much like sound effects with heartbeats, screams, faint and distant choir and someone banging on a piano. as a whole it's an experimental electronic piece, and all tracks are taken from the KPM Music Library. check it out, I like it.

Tonight before going to sleep I'm spinning these 2 new additions. Maybe half of Xtro, and half of Lone Wolf, then off to bed.

^@texas - Definitely a favorite from the last few years. It gets a lot of listens on my commute.

I am going to cheat a bit here, but since I miss posting in this thread, and I'm sitting poolside with my family on vacation, here is currently what is in my headphones:

Love the fuzzed-out bass, the keys, the strings, the woodwinds, even the pornofunk guitar licks, all of it.

Nothing like this one on a sunny afternoon!
