BoC 12"s arrived today :D
Also here is a Ghostly compilation that I forget the name of as they haven't seen fit to put it anywhere on the record - No.9 of 350, clear vinyl with a white blob in it, acreenprinted arty cover and A Winged Victory For The Sullen doing their exclusively lovely thing on it. And John Davis' "Spare Parts" double album, his first for 15 year according to the sticker on the front. And I'm not going to argue with that.

And my Wicker Man nice-pic-on-the-sleeve edition has arrived - 043/500. Which is ace, but as I've just been told I'm being made redundant on the 20th of December, also feeling slightly guilty about the expense of it all :(

Magical, isn't it?
I'll find something else soon enough, so I'm fairly good about it - will have to stop buying vinyl for a bit though :)

Anyone else get their hands on the David Bowie "Earthling" reissues from Music On Vinyl? They did a run of transparent green for the first press and blue for the second. Damn I love this record! Telling Lies is my jam.

I really wanted the MOV green Outside (my favorite post 80s Bowie album) reissue - but missed the boat on it. Will settle for the black I think.

Good for you old son. A new beginning is always exciting! And I'm joining you in a vinyl freeze, due to current residency in skintville. :P

Thanks! I do live in daily fear of having my Moderator Sash removed by Mr. Hickman for this current lack of buying stuff... Might have to set up a rival, and cheaper in all respects, "Compress The Blackest 1s and 0s" board if austerity bites any harder :D

Just got this David Lynch "bad the john boy" 12". Have to admit I was taken in by the presentation with this one with the silk screened wrap around and limited pressing. It's even wax sealed on the back which is extremely cool. Inside is a large poster of original art by Lynch. That said, the music here is definitely not my cup of tea. I did like Eraserhead though

Just got Shearwater's Fellow Travelers in the post, where they cover stuff by bands they've played with lately. Which does sadly include Coldplay.
Loser Edition first press, so it's on yellow vinyl and comes with a bonus 7" with further covers of Mountain Goats and Michael Gira. Nice.

And on (sshh) CD, a very quietly reissued version of Soulsavers' The Light The Dead See which comes with a DVD of their Hollywood live show (the only one they did of the tour), and a lengthy interview/track-by-track explanation thingy with plenty of handwork.

I received A Blessed Unrest by The Parlour Trick yesterday. You can check out the bandcamp page here - http://theparlourtrick.bandcamp.com/ Haunted chamber music and dark, dreamy ambience composed, arranged, and performed by multi-instrumentalists Dan Cantrell & Meredith Yayanos.

Im really enjoying it. Is that a theremin, is that a violin or a child crying?! Good shit. Page says SOLD OUT but contact them as i think they have some copies lurking.

Lavishly packaged in a tri-fold sleeve with aome superb photography by London based snapper, Ellen Rogers. Its mighty fine all round.

I finally found Church of Misery's latest release, "Thy Kingdom Scum" 2LP for sale under $30 so ordered it from Hell's Headbangers. Been in a doom metal mood lately...

Bite,

Just ordered that CoM from Bullmoose in ME yesterday ($23.31) along with the RSD Ghost "Opus Eponymous" ($20.97) and the Albini "In Utero" dbl 45 ($41.97), all no tax/free shipping. Psyched they still have this stuff in stock and at those prices. They used to be a brick and mortar small chain account of mine when I worked for Caroline and Dutch East rekkids in the mid-90's, but I haven't ordered anything from them until now. I'll let you know how it works out.

LOVE Church of Misery. Oddly, I listen to them at on the arc trainer or running. Probably not what they had in mind <g>. Had tickets to see them play at St. Vitus here in Brooklyn last month, but they had to cancel for visa reasons and they haven't rescheduled.

That latest church of misery is amazing.

They were supposed to play here, but cancelled a lot of dates because of visa issues.

Been on a vinyl bender for the past month or so...

Stand outs:

The Melvins Kinks cover 7" has GREAT non-cd b side(as do most of this series)"Victoria", but the Roxy 7" is, alas, blank (but still awesome).

Wooden Shjips is, of course, fuckin' fanstastic. Atmospheric, trancy/repetitive guitar psych. The package is soo damn nice too.. acoustic 7", die cut outer slip sleeve, gate fold sleeve and wavy design inner record pocket.

Nick Cave/Bad Seeds stripped down, live in the studio dbl, beautifully recorded. If you like him, pretty much all I need to say, right?

Haven't listened to this Thee Oh Sees or the Nick Lowe yet, but love 'em both. Got the Nick Lowe signed yesterday at Rough Trade NYC at what was supposed to be a free live show if you bought the record/cd. The brand new shop opened 11/29, is lovely and includes a 250 seat venue, but noise complaints after the opening two nights of Television live has put the kabosh on ANY live stuff there for now. Seems like they think they'll be able to up the sound proof game and my fingers are crossed.

@chuck - thank you for bringing The Parlor Trick to my attention. I contacted them in hopes they've got a copy for sale still...that music was incredibly great!

Loving The Parlour Trick here, too!
Listening to The Yellow Wallpaper through headphones for the first time almost dislodged something terrible though :)

Also got new CDs from Moon Wiring Club and Neil Young - former not on vinyl (not with this cassette malarkey I'm afraid), and NY's Cellar Door is 23-25 quid on vinyl so the grumpy old sod can do one.

I haven't purchased anything yet but I'll be sending money over to Tribulation Records for a copy of "Behold the Abyss" by Those Poor Bastards right after the holidays. T.P.B. are my new favorite band.

My copy of "Thy Kingdom Scum" by Church of Misery arrived yesterday. The c-side has some nasty surface noise at the beginning then comes n' goes up to about the middle then disappears. The vinyl is a nice bronze color.

@bitewerks TPB are awesome as is Lonesome himself. Top bloke, great musician and writer. Have you heard the Krampus Unmerciful 7"? Recommended along with Ghost Ballads.

@chuck: No, I missed out on the Krampus Unmerciful 7". I've only recently discovered TPB. The first time around, I thought they were interesting but didn't think I needed to spend any money on them. This week, I took another stab, & have become kind of obsessed especially with songs from "Behold the Abyss".

I like TPB more than what I've listened to from "Ghost Ballads" (one song from that release reminded me a little of Coil).

I'm going to order a couple of the LPs after Christmas.

Definitely mate, don't hesitate. They're packaged brilliantly with great artwork. Thoroughly recommend Satan is Watching too.

There'll be a new Edgar Switchblade book and audio adventure in the new year along with a vinyl press of TPB first album Hellfire Hymns. Yeeaaaah!

What's your email address dude?
