A ripping early hard rock album that fits in more with early Deep Purple and Led Zepplin. You got to give it to Bowie he was a true chameleon.

That's a catastrophically tragic double bill. I probably became aware of both Bowie and Scrimm as a teen in the 80s at about the same time via 'Scary Monsters' and, what here in Australia was called The Neverdead, Phantasm.

It's probably easier for me to just do this... Here's what I'll be listening to over (at least) the next few days while I wait for Black Star to arrive.

@static, nice! you have quite the Bowie collection. I have 4 of those. I do have his newest waiting on me at my local shop and they are hold "Nothing Has Changed" should I want it.

I don't have my whole collection with me at the moment, but when I read the news late Sunday night, I woke my wife, and we listened to most of Blackstar, the title track from Cat People, and then (perhaps corny to some) watched his Christmas carol duets with Bing Crosby by the light of our still standing tree. It was a good moment. A sad moment, but a good one.

Imgur isn't cooperating right now, so hopefully this picture shows up.

I found this Jerry Goldsmith OST, Islands In The Stream, today for $2.99, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Easily one of the best Goldsmith scores I've heard, but I'm not as big of a fan as some on the forum (@static!). The liner notes suggest it's Goldsmith's favorite, at least as of 1986.

Never heard of the film, but Roger Ebert gave it thumbs up/three stars and it has an 80% on rotten tomatoes, so maybe I'll have to give it a watch. Ebert wrote, "“Islands in the Stream” is a big, strong, old-fashioned movie about that threatened species, the Hemingway Hero. It celebrates physical courage and boozing all night and the initiation of boys into manhood, and it has a fishing scene, a battle scene, a love scene and a whore with a heart of gold. Papa would have loved it, and no wonder: He wrote it, and in many ways it's about him."

Anyway, there aren't tons of copies listed for sale, but none have ever sold on Discogs and the prices are pretty low. Definitely worth checking out if you see one.

Also, Instagram is addicting and loads of fun to use as a 'now playing' novelty account (@texasvinyl, naturally). I love the 15-second video option! I had no idea, I thought it was all teenagers and women posting outfits and recipes. I am probably going to make most of my 'now spinning' posts on IG now.

@texas, Islands is outstanding! One of my favorites and it still amazes me that it can be found so cheaply. If you like it check out Goldsmith's Night Crossing. Another top notch and can still be found cheap also. You can audition a few tracks on youtube.

@texas I've had Low for a long time when you could get it for a couple of bucks at a used record store. I'm surprised with all of the reissues these days that the majority of Bowie's albums haven't had a repress. I'm sure there coming.

I've been thinking about doing a Instagram account for some time now. I just like STBC because it's a small tight nit group. Hope to still see you post on here too. You always have a lot of cool stuff.
