RE: War Libraries - I don't see it as glorifying war or violence. The title Pathos Bellico translates to the pity or sadness of war, and a lot of the material reflects that. That said, I won't deny that some well-played snares and flute sound great to my ears, but that is the intend effect of that type of music. Some of the themes on the LP could have also jumped out of a Goldsmith or Silvestri war/action theme, and it is interesting to hear some of these early influences on those styles.

@Dollarhyde - I still need that I Gres. The Cometa LP's don't make it to US distros, so I need to bite the bullet (heh) and just import it. There is an OG on discogs for €350 euro. >_<

visiting some biology class again lately. both are amazing, especially the Bruton one is an absolute masterpiece IMHO. can't recommend this one enough. outstanding beats and atmosphere. some cues were used for Brutons suspende, tension & horror series. can be found for very little money too.

the Sonoton one contains some outstanding underwater cues.

I decided to hold off on ordering any of the new Sonor represses for now, and instead sent some hard-earned dollars over to Ivana @ Cometa Records. Butterfly #3, I Gres Vol.1 and Micalizzi's Violence! should be heading my way soon. Wishing that beautiful stamp-covered pizza box safe travels as it crawls half-way across the globe. I am saving a leftover bottle of champagne from the holidays for when it finally arrives.

Christ, I've missed this place. I've never bought anything from Cometa before, but after reading Monster's and Deaf's respective posts (howdy, gents!), I gave their site a long look. There seems to be quite a bit of overlap between themselves and Sonor Music Editions. I imagine this stems from some of these records (Freedom Power, Inchiesta, and the like) being in the public domain. How do these labels compare in quality?

Regarding the Cometa website, they also distribute other labels' (Sonor, Roundtable, etc.) represses of their back catalog Check out the catalog numbers to verify. Typically, I only order the actual Cometa represses, since we could pick up the other represses from US distros. I have yet to find a US distro that is able to stock directly from Cometa. Soundohm in Italy is only other distro that I know of.

yesterday i played some spooky stuff, the title Delirium Tremens says i all and is another reason why i love library records. totally dark, mysterious but beautiful atmosphere. can't recommend this enough. one hidden gem from the Crea Sound catalogue plus i love the cover art.

this is another fine example of french goodness... everybody is after The Strange World and Progressive Percussions but this is my favourite on this classic label. what a beauty. especially the Nocturne side!

The last few days I have delved deep into Sonor's release of Erbe Selvatiche by Oscar Rocchi and Il Suo Modern Sound, This record is hot fire. Hard to choose a favorite, but I'm pretty certain that listening to Rosolaccio a few times in a row will cure you of a cold or any one of several other common maladies. I heartily recommend tracking this beauty down.
