finally got email confirmation about SOMETHING shipped from LITA. i have AOP13, Ripper, and Room 237, on preorder on two separate orders, and the orders themselves still show as not shipped yet. don't know WHAT i'll be getting in a few days, but i am on the edge of my seat in anticipation. especially after seeing everyone's pictures here. all three of these releases look incredible.

it says a lot about a label when they can make me get excited about soundtracks to movies i have yet to see. STILL have not seen Ripper or AOP13. i know! crazy, right?!

my first 3 records of sub 3 are waiting in the post office... i missed the mailman on Thursday when he tried to deliver and yesterday (Friday) and Monday are national holiday here... Roll on Tuesday. I'm wishing my life away for records!

... is it Tuesday yet? Dammit!

I was lucky to get my sub 3 records at all, we currently have a temporary postie which means it can be a different one every day and I also live at the end of their delivery run, so I have to wait and guess to see if I get my deliveries, some days I get post some days not.

It is only by the sheer luck (not best choice of word)that I work for Royal Mail part time(an absolute shambles of a place). I for one hold the same contempt for the place as most people here so don't hold it against me :) but at least it does have it advantages when something like this happens and quite often something fucks up especially when I'm expecting my records.

Basically 'a postie' took my records out to deliver them, but ran out of time. So they went back to the office, they should have got delivered the next day, they didn't. When they returned to the office they actually found themselves in the collection dept waiting for me to pickup.

It's a pain having to pick stuff up from there, but my point is that it didn't even get delivered to me, didn't make it to my door, no card to tell me to pick it up, nada, I had no idea it was even there waiting for me to collect from the delivery zone, I knew it was due and was looking out for it, so started asking around and thankfully someone I knew said did you get those records the other day, I was like errh no, when was this? about 3 days ago.

So... I'm just saying that I'm lucky and glad I've got my new releases and royal mail suck! Time for a Peroni and Room 237, Cheers

Does any country these days really have a well-functioning postal system?

Postal rates here in Denmark are insane, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. If I'm not at home and there is a package for me (unregistered or otherwise), they're supposed to take it with them and leave a note that I can pick it up etc. But one of my current mailman just leaves it under the doormat...

Now, even though I live on the ground floor, I trust most of my neighbors not to snitch it. But more than once I've stepped out of the door and onto a package of records! Thankfully, no major damage has happened yet...

I agree Rasmus prices are far too high for the service supplied, also many of these other subsidiary companies in the u.k. that are advertised as a better service actually use the infrastructure set up to get their mail delivered by royal mail!

It's pretty messed up here in Spain too. I have about 6 postman, they work monthly contracts. I know them all, though a new one could start at any point. They know about my habit and leave my records in the bin, some will even sign for me. Even though I haven't seen her, I know this particular month my mail lady is a chick who struggles to bend rules and do things by the book as much as possible and she's taken mine back to the depot. The bitch. Just kidding, she's lovely! At least I know they're safe.

Despite Royal Mail's best efforts I got my Room 237 & New York Ripper today. The sleeves are just fantastic, but I'm glad the booklets are being made a bit smaller in future as they're a really tight fit.

My copy of AOP13 is in the mail from LITA. I'm hoping it'll arrive late this week despite the holiday mail flood. I think it'll be one of my top 5 records for 2013.

I just received an email for LiTA saying "just got those titles in to our warehouse late last week and I have about 500 preorders to pack up, so I'm working on getting them shipped out ASAP!" cant wait!

My sub stuff just arrived today in SoCal. The new sleeves are awesome and the vinyl looks nice (not had time to play any of them yet). No inverted gatefold here.

I haven't seen it mentioned that AOP13 actually has the film name on the spine as well as the quote, I'm always a bit forgetful with the quotes, especially if I've never seen the film, which makes filing interesting so I think this is a good thing :)

yes - it is in a clear sleeve, just the disc, no artwork. Stuffed inside the LP sleeve

Have to say I managed a whole side of the record before I realised it was on the wrong speed! Sounds much better on 45rpm! Room 237 definitely my favourite out of the 3 LPs in sub 3 so far. Particularly side two - absolutely amazing.

(I also got through half of AOP13 on 33rpm too! That's a very short record, btw)

I don't want to be a critic, but I must admit I'm not a big fan of the new sleeves (to put it mildly). Ok they're so heavy mmmh, they're thick oh yeah, that's solid cardboard allright... but that's not really what I'm looking for.

From an aesthetic point of view, I see no elegance in it, especially the raw cardboax style of the outside edge.
From a practical point of view, it's a nightmare. After a 15 minute struggle, I abandoned the idea of being able to put the poster and the booklet with the vinyl in the New York Ripper sleeve. But maybe I have two left hands.

In fact, I think my favorite era, in term of sleeve quality and design, is the second one (Halloween 2 and 3, They Live...).

But hey, the bigger you become, the less easy it is to satisfy everyone.

I ran into that problem with the new sleeves, esp. with my NY Ripper, could not get the poster and insert back in, so i gave up frustrated. Came back later and it just went right in. Magical!

Spencer has stated that future releases with the new sleeves will have slightly smaller-sized booklets, etc to address this issue, I believe.

I had that problem with DW1-12 when I went to put all the records in poly inners so I wouldn't keep using the printed inners. It doesn't all fit, but I just put the record on the outside of the of the sleeve in the poly outer. I'm hoping my sub shows up in the next few days, very much looking forward to it.

How much bigger are the new sleeves compared to The Fog and Maniac?

It's actually the same size, here you can see AOP13's gatefold jacket, inner lp sleeve and insert booklet against The Fog's gatefold jacket, inner lp sleeve and the cover art insert :

I just bought a copy of Assault at my local shop, as my sub hasn't come in yet. This package is killer, glad I got the "plain vanilla" vinyl to pair with my sub version. This copy does have the inverted gatefold, did we ever figure out how many of these there are? Are DW replacing them? If my sub copy is correct, I don't really care, but if both are inverted, that would be something I'd want to replace. Can't wait to spin it tonight when I get home!

@dumaisaudio -- I have the inverted sleeve, I'd pre-ordered the Vanilla Twist edition which arrived over a week ago. Couple of emails back n forth with spencer@deathwaltzrecordingcompany.co.uk, letting me know they would send me a replacement, and asking for me to "be patient, as it's a busy time we're doing our best!"

So I'm pretty confident he won't forget about me, but feels like I'll probably have to nudge a little..... ;)
