Hey y'all, I'm buying equipment for setting up a little one-day record shop at a local coffeehouse soon, and could use some advice for where to get quality displays, boxes, and bags without being gouged.

I'm looking at Bags Unlimited for inner sleeves, poly sleeves, and dividers, but am open to other suppliers. Finding somewhere with reasonably priced boxes is apparently impossible? I don't want to use white cardboard boxes, but it's looking like this is the best option?

Also, I'm looking for wall displays like I've seen some of you post pictures of here--transparent grids hung by nails/hooks. I'm having no luck finding these things.

Thanks in advance for any help here; I've got a lot of support, and I'm already printing fliers, yet it's the simple things that are trying to screw me.

Not what I use, but seems to be popular and fairly affordable...

From all the research I've ever done, Bags Unlimited seems to be the most affordable when buying record protection in bulk.

What about regular plastic milk / file crates from Walmart or Target?

Indeed. I've actually got most of my OST collection crated in fold-away plastic garden crates, which are perfectly sized for a LPs inside protective sleeves.

In UK bargain stores I pick them up for 2x for £5. I try not to overfill them though, as I wouldn't trust their stability/construction if they were being carried around full of LPs more than 2/3rds full max.

@ghostfires - I saw those on Amazon, but they're a lot cheaper from the source, so that's a more reasonable option. But I was hoping to put up at least a dozen, and that route would add up to $100 or so for just a few hours of display. Thanks for the link; I'm weighing it.

@monsterworship - The prices of those are comparable to the thick cardboard crates on Amazon, so it's a bit of a toss up.

@discosucks - If I could get a hold of those in Texas, then I'd be sure to grab them, heheh.

Thanks for the quick input, y'all; I'm probably making orders by the end of the day.

@Walter - I can't imagine there isn't something similar in US stores, probably listed under "folding garden crate" or such.

Good luck with the store! :)

Walter the crates I had at Austin record show I got at Wal Mart and target for $4 each. At target they're in the back to school section. Container store I think has the sterlite brand ones which are taller and stackable with records inside so are easier to fit in the car. Or you could go with good ole fashioned cardboard moving boxes which are even cheaper and hold more records.

Are you doing it as a one time thing?

@texas - I'll hopefully be doing it more than once, making boxes that can fold more ideal. I'm gonna go look for boxes at Wal-Mart right now.

@disco - Thanks!
