I actually placed my order just before the tweet came out. I had just gone over to check and it was there. Now I'll just cancel my Amazon order.

$55? It's cheaper to just preorder from Norman Records or Rough Trade

How long should I let it sit "processing payment"?

Guessing that their servers often deal with this.

Well they didn't specify how many copies were pressed. I'm guessing it's more than usual since they had to know the demand for this would probably be the most they've ever seen. Given that the Amazon listing was pulled, it was probably due to them selling out of how many they had ordered, which should be an indication of how popular this release is. I'm glad they waited on the posters, since people seem to go after those pretty hardcore.

@thenuthouse - i would let it keep processing so you don't get double charged. sometimes it takes a few minutes. if you see the order details page in the back group, you should be straight, but leave the browser open until it finishes.

@thenuthouse - mine kept saying processing payment at the very end, but I received a paypal receipt plus a receipt from Mondo in email, so I have to assume it all went through properly.

How long did Drive take to sell out?

Aside from Drive (and maybe the first couple records where they underestimated demand?), I feel like Mondo vinyl generally takes its' sweet time selling out. (the recent limited 7" records excepting of course)

I think they press the LPs in adequate quantities (which they aren't allowed to do for posters). Even Drive was available plenty of places after a week or two if folks were willing to wait (which can be hell on the nerves I know)

@jmctodo - drive sold out in about 60 seconds. but at that time there was no knowledge of them pushing it out to record stores or a picture disc version coming out or anything. people were paying almost $300 for that thing in the weeks before it started showing up in stores... kinda shady, in my opinion, but mondo isn't the one making huge money off of the reselling of these things, so it is really just building hype...

Also, the Amazon page is back up now listing it as Unavailable. I just cancelled my order there.

@dumaisaudio - hmmm, that's interesting the page is back up again. i'll probably cancel there, too.unless my buddy is really relying on that extra copy i got.

@layneharvey oh wow, I guess I was luckier than I thought. but I definitely Drive was an anomaly in the current 'modern' world of mondo vinyl.

(oh, and I know folks like to poke fun at Mondo's shipping prices... so, 4 copies of the 7" cost me $15 to ship, while 2 copies of the double LP cost $7. har har!)

I ended up ordering from Mondo but I will keep the Amazon preorder which is confirmed at the moment. Enough for this Halloween! ;)

Well, the Halloween poster edition of 150 lasted roughly thirty seconds ...
Can't sleep, too fucking curious.

Nevermind. Snagged.

Well typical - get the final shipping deal and the poster comes up as being sold out. As in true Mondo rip-off fashion - look on ebay and they're already going for $100-150. What a fucking joke.

a bit off topic, but I stuck around to try my hand at a poster and my greed got the best of me. I had the main poster in my cart before the variant was even posted! but I wanted the variant so I waited(!) for it.

Then of course, by the time I made it most of the way through the process with both posters in my cart, the variant sold out - kicking me back a couple steps so they could recalculate shipping - and then by the time I got to pay, the regular edition was also sold out.

for the best as I was really spending money I don't have, but man I wanted that variant! :)

I honestly didn't even like the variant, I didn't try for it. I only wanted to regular edition - it looked much better to me. Oh well - I was able to pick up the Quilt Face Studios glow in the dark halloween poster at least.

@jmctodo - yeah, the hype surrounding the DRIVE release was ridiculous. i thought the movie was decent at best, and the soundtrack, at least the score is a straight snooze-fest in my opinion, just a lot of repeated themes. everytime i try to listen, it just because background noise that i don't listen to.
