I live in Manchester & I used to work freelance for a shop called Fat City which has sadly gone (I got all my records at 1/3rd of the RRP which was sweet).

We have loads of stores in an area called The Northern Quarter: Piccadilly Records (new stuff), Vinyl Exchange, Clampdown, Vinyl Revival (2nd hand), Beatin' Rhythm (for 45's).

Probably my favourite store after Piccadilly Records is actually in Chorlton (nearby), called King Bee which sells mainly 2nd hand stuff.

I used to go in to Robs , but couldn't handle it. Im not saying everything has to be organised but it was just towers and towers of records. I rarely came away with anything other than frustration.

Fat City records gone? Thats bad news. I was really big into the whole grand central records and Fat City was a big part of that, artists like Aim, Rae & Christian etc was all golden!

Forgot to give a shout out to Phonica and Sounds of the Universe in Soho, London, the other day.

Both have small soundtrack sections, but Phonica in particular has some interesting electronica that fans of this forum enjoy.

Any record shop recommendations from those fans who live in Italy, France, Sweden, etc on this thread? Seems to be mostly US/Uk discussion at the moment. Sure there must be some more fantastic stores in Europe? ;)

This is a really quirky soundtrack shop in Brighton UK - The guy who runs it is really cool and has a ton of great stories.. perhaps sadly it wont be around too much longer??

@spun Wah Wah in Barcelona is pretty amazing.

I'm in Portland, Maine USA where we are blessed with a very high record store per capita ratio. Of the 10 or so places I frequent, Enterprise and Moody Lords are my favorites. (Although if you are looking for new stuff, Bullmoose is the place)

hey gents (and ladies?)! my wife and i are heading to nyc at the end of may for a wedding and will have 2-3 days to kill. please point me in the right direction of record shops i must seek out. shops with the highest likelihood of having some stuff that we here love to talk about. we will be staying in brooklyn, but if there is a shop that is dynamite outside of that immediate area, we are willing to travel! :) let me know!

In Greenpoint Brooklyn you should hit these Academy Records Annex, Co-Op 87 Records, The Record Grouch and Captured Tracks -- in Bushwick Brooklyn you should hit Human Head and Heaven Street Records -- in Manhattan you should do Academy LPs, Other Music and In Living Stereo -- have fun!!

Anyone care to recommend a store in D.C.??? Not for new stuff but good for rare, used stuff (soundtracks, rock, punk, world, etc...)

In Glasgow I'd recommend Monorail for soundtracks and vinyl generally. Always have a good selection of the labels on STBC, plus others (+ small used section), and a good selection of electronic vinyl. Last I checked, their FB profile pic showed their wall display with a couple of DW selections.

I'm also a fan of LoveMusic, but they have a much smaller vinyl selection and not many OSTs.
