I have to recommend this, for all your cinematic and eerie tastes out there. An incredible record, just give it a listen.

Received this lovely response from the people organising the current Alessandro Musicraiser:
'Hello Matthew,
do not worry because even if you do not succeed (as expected) to achieve the goal, we will print equally both the lp's but it will print a limited quantity ie copies of each LP will be 300 or 350 each and will follow the same procedures and the cost of the project. But in more copies will be numbered and signed by me and will follow the numbering with which were made reservations during the planning phase but will be available only for those who will leave a deposit on the purchase.
I think this is the best solution, one that will please everyone including us.
Thank you Matthew for joining us during the whole phase of our project on MUSICRAISER. .
Ivana Mattei'

Do you think it means only the people who contributed to the fundraiser will be offered or have priority on the LP? What do you folks make out from the above?

That seems a positive way forward. Glad they can move ahead with it and looking forward to my copies!

Hmm.... Speaking of this reissue campaign, I just got this email followed by a €40 refund:

Hello,
Thank you for contributing to the campaign Cometa Edizioni Musicali Vinyl Reissues

Unfortunately it didn't achieve the required goal so you will not receive the purchased reward/s and your contribution will be refunded within 15 days.

Yep, just received my monies back also. I thought they may hang on to it and just do a more limited pressing. Maybe we'll get a heads up before the general public?

Given the pace of new releases and re-issues at the moment I'm still catching up on some stuff that I missed last year.

This one came out in July from Tona Serenad on a nifty 5" flexi / playable postcard. It's a thoroughly over-the-top piece of exotica, where warm Tiki tones swing headlong into space-age lounge-pop, courtesy of Swedes Joe Davolaz.

I may have just got the last one from Norman's, but it's still available through the label >>here<< . Well worth checking out.

I bought this when it came out after hearing a digital version. Have to say that the card is technically 'playable' but hardly hi-fi!! I wish they'd release it on a 45.

""ALESSANDRO ALESSANDRONI” and “TOWER OF POWER” will be printed anyway. The releases will be limited presses of 300 and 350 copies, and will be released at the same price of the Musicraiser Campaign. Each Lp will be hand-numbered by me and will be numbered with priority and following the order to who will pre-order and buy the Lp during the pre-release project campaign. I guess this is the best solution, that will guarantee the satisfaction of all, including us. We want to thank you for your following during the MusicRaiser Campaign. Iva"

I could only find this page by going through the link on their original musicraiser site. Ordered and looking forward to it. Not a bad shipping rate to Canada, neither (considering the dollar, anyway.)

Thanks for the link thing. The deflated Euro is making vinyl consumption a good bit cheaper these days for those outside of it :)

Agree Pitch, definitely some noise on this one, although the postcard backing and snug centre-hole helps with stability on the turntable compared to other flexis I own. I quite like the overall look and feel of it as a bit of weird ephemera (the cover is spectacularly oddball) but it's so good that it deserve a hi(gher)-fi release.

Thanks for the heads up on this Macready. Oddball definitely puts it in my interest area :) They emailed back following purchase wondering where I heard about the release, probably puzzled by a sudden surge in sales!

Funny, they also asked me where I found this.
Btw - this tune reminds me of "The Avalanches" of whom I wait for a new album in 10 years ..

Nice one @ Oiche and Occhionero

Now we have their attention we need to petition for a full vinyl version for Pitch.
I'd happily have Piña Colada again on the flip if they're struggling with a b-side :)

Glad that you all enjoy Joe Davolaz, they have recorded a lot of songs already and we're almost ready to send the next one to the pressing plants to make a 7 inch with two brand new songs that are super hot. We will definitely print Piña Colada on vinyl again. The plan is to make a series of 7 inches and then maybe an LP with all the 7 inches. We'll see where it lands.

Anyway, one of the main men in Joe Davolaz is about to release his third album with his band Musette, that could be something worth checking out if you like Joe Davolaz:

Welcome and thanks for the info Tona Serenad - will definitely be checking out future releases, and great news that Pina Colada will be getting a re-press.

Bizarrely I was streaming Musette's 'Drape Me In Velvet' last week just before I found the Joe Davolaz record, but didn't realise the connection.

Really enjoying 'Apocalypso' on their soundcloud.

Thanks for the update!! Really looking forward to a vinyl 7 of Pina Colada - I know a few people who would love to get their hands on a copy of that. Definitely looking forward to some more releases, and will check out that Musette album for sure!

New double LP from Makeup and Vanity up for pre-order. There don't seem to be any preview tracks, and it is expensive at $40 shipped to the states. I really enjoyed their music for 88:88, so I went ahead and took a risk on this double LP. Edition of 240.
