You got it, Mateo! This is the sort of stuff that keeps me loving hip hop after all these years. I'm familiar with some of Apollo Brown's other work, but this is a grade-A doozy that managed to pass me by. Any other recommendations of instrumental hip hop in the same vein as this album would be greatly appreciated!

Call me a nerd, but I got a big kick out of this. I opened up this tape I just bought and found the original purchase receipt from 1991 folded up in the liner notes. The receipt looks like it was printed yesterday despite being over 24 years old. My guess is that it was folded up and forgotten about until now. Pretty neat. It also makes me long for the days when music/video stores were a common sight out in the real world.

@Spun - I missed that Micachu! Is it available anywhere else?

@toosoonjr - Nice, that would be around a ~$20 purchase today.

Speaking of tapes, the Protector 101 cassette recommended in this thread is really on point. It's very dark and menacing, and I get some Chattaway "Maniac" vibes when listening to it.

Nostalgia! Used to go to warehouse everyweek to rent movies. They had an amazing foriegn movies section.

I think I like this one, Toosoon.

Side note: Did you see Cobra Copter has an album preview up on SoundCloud? Brief, but pleasurable.

Hmm, I don't believe I have, Mateo. I'll give it a listen. Cobra Copter is one of the best in the synthwave game!

Glad you like the Kumiko!

I recently acquired a stockpile of OST tapes. Some of you tape heads might appreciate this.

@spun, I'm glad someone appreciates tapes. I've got a few more than those shown, but these are just my recent pick-ups. I have a local spot that has a lot of new and old stock of tapes. So, I mostly grab them there whenever I'm in the area. I'm sure the store is happy to unload them. :)

Interesting, think would be hard pressed finding any bricks and mortar store selling tapes like that in the UK, but could be wrong. Don't think I've seen that many tapes together in one spot since 1995! ;)
