Thankfully this superb Greek soundtrack was reissued a few years back, as an original copy will set you back at least £500! The guy I bought this from proudly told me that he had a NM original and I could snap it up for 750 euros. Er, no thanks.

Lots to spin today, from a record fair at the weekend:

Hard to believe I've never picked this up before! Twaaaaaang......

And ditto this classic. Wish it had some of Linda Manz voiceover on there...

No idea about this, but Fred Karlin composed the music for Cassavetes' Faces which is great!

Love this film! Don't remember JG's score especially, but his mid-80s sci-fi vintage is all good by me :)

Film doesn't look promising, but this was cheap and Mansell always interesting.

And this was the real prize! I actually did the "oh shit yesss..." out loud thing when I found it in the bargain £3 bin. Mainly for the tracks from Body Double (I LOVE that film/music!), unreleased otherwise on vinyl (unlike the tracks from Carrie, Home Movies, Dressed to Kill and Blow Out).

.....24 more days to Hallowe'en, Hallowe'en, Hallowe'en.......

@disco - Totally with you on Cooder's Paris Texas. Just got it last week for pennies having not heard it since the film. Stunningly beautiful soundtrack and left me wishing it was 30 mins longer and I'd bought it before! There's not too many people who can create a world with just a guitar.

Also ordered Filth so look forward to hearing that, interested to know your opinion. Don't write off the movie too quickly though, from the sneak preview I thought it was superb. Stunning performance from McAvoy.
Totally green about love and menace!! Nice score old bean :)

Listening to this right now as I type - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03b4nbv
Interesting radio show by David Arnold on BBC 6 about soundtracks, mainly the big boys (Morricone, Barry, Herrmann, Goldsmith, et al. Worth a listen.

Cheers Oiche, old fruit - I hadn't quite written Filth off, and a pal just gave it pretty much a good recommendation so will definitely watch out for it. (I work in a cinema, it's bound to play there soon...)

Yeah......that Love and Menace score has made me soooooo happy, I can't tell you -- Body Double was such a big film for me, seeing it on tape around '85 at an uncle's house on a school night - thinking "what the fuck is this weird, sexy, upsettingly violent, beautiful, twisted, fucked up shit!??" I will always be DePalma's bitch (despite his ill treatment of me recently....Passion?? Oh dear, no....)

A little bummed that side A was a bowl of rice krispies. All other sides were fine. In the process of giving side A another cleaning. Hopefully it will help. Otherwise I am...

Eating this up! :)

VPI Aries by the looks of it. They cost more than my car did!

Oiche is correct, VPI Aries, original with no modifications. It didn't cost more than my car though. :)
I got it at a time in my life when I had no bills andI bought it used and saved some $$$. I'm glad I got it when I did, otherwise I would not be able to afford it now.

Static! How funny......I was only giving this its first spin just an hour ago! Great clattering 80s Sci-Fi Goldsmith synth loveliness it is too.

I'm currently really into Stanley Myers - have been spinning Prick Up Your Ears (recent arrival), Sitting Target, Insignificance, Kaleidoscope and No Way To Treat a Lady. I recommend them all! :)

Any good? The only Jay Ferguson I have is "A Nightmare On Elm Street 5", and that's quite bad, I think.

Bad Dreams is pretty darn good. Compared to Nightmare 5 it's chinatown :)
