@nick_rising, thanks man! I'm just glad I'm not the only who still digs tapes! :)

You already know I have a weakness for vaporwave, so thanks a lot for forcing my wallet to cough up nearly $17 for a cassette! Still better than finding it two weeks after it sells out, and looking at crazy discogs prices while saying what the fuck!

Vaporwave is typically always great stuff, especially for someone my age...growing up with home computer media from 89-95. So much great stuff came out then!

Fellow tape heads... a new discovery for fans of Pye Corner Audio and Not Waving from the same label: Luminous Frames by Mattheis

First run of 50 white cassettes has sold out but 2nd batch of black up for pre-order for reasonable price via BANDCAMP page

Here's the blurb: 'Following a busy year that saw Ecstatic release sides from PYE Corner Audio, Not Waving & Daphne Oram among others, Ecstatic start off 2015 with a great debut on the label from new signing Mattheis. 'Luminous Frames' is a dreamlike arpeggio synth journey of the highest caliber, recalling the Krautrock explorations of early Neu! at their most melodic to the Black Mill Tape experimentation of label mate and 'our head technician' PYE Corner Audio. Five tracks oozing with ambient swagger from the new age glisten of 'A State Of Suspended Animation' to the eyes down post-punk disco funk of 'Light Cones Reversed' a great debut release from an exciting new artist from this ever on point label.'

Thanks for the article, Oiche. I'll have to give these a read later. The Bandcamp/tape thing is certainly a strange phenomenon.

No probs toosoon. A nice piece of writing, which I agreed with to an extent and then added my two-pence worth :)

I couldn't really get into that Captain zero, but loved the Fat East Funk, and it arrived very quickly after ordering!

I took a chance and nabbed the Capt Zero tape based off a few quick snippets, but I've been listening to the mp3s in my car the past week, and I really started to dig the blend of hip hop, ambient, and dreamwave. It's a like a psychedelic urban space adventure. :)

The Far East Funk tape is more straightforward hip hop.

If you dig hip hop beats mixed with other music...you might really enjoy a guy called Astroboter. I've talked with him off and on online for a few years now, real nice guy. Great music...I have all three of his tapes, and really enjoy them.

I just received this gem in the mail. It sold out pretty dang quick. Not sure how describe it...a somber mix of ambient/trappy/screwed/electronic/hiphop elements? Good stuff.

Currently Crypt Jamming to this tape. Released in '92 and features the main theme, Crypt Jam (cryptkeeper rapping), and episodic music scored by a number of composers. Really a great CD/tape-only release!

The two most recent tape acquisitions... anyone grab the Mica Levi? Very much follows on from where 'Under the Skin' left off to these ears...

Had not realised (or had forgotten) until I read Michael Deeley's book that 'Dangerous Days' was the original title for the Blade Runner movie... Master Kent is obviously a big fan.

Just received this tape and I'm not sure how this one slipped by me when it was released last year. Really great soul-drenched instrumental hip hop from Detroit producer Apollo Brown. Also available on vinyl.

Apollo Brown is seriously excellent. I've missed this one entirely as well. Looks like I've got a project for this evening. Cheers, Toosoon!

EDIT: Holy Smokes, dude. This is awesome. I could listen to stuff like this all damn day. Reminds me of old RZA production mixed with classic Curtis Mayfield. Sweet Jesus!
