Thanks blindguy. I though it might be there but as you said, the search box doesn't turn it up.

Curious stirrings from the stately home of Moon Wiring Club's label. A missive from Servant Roberts can't be too far away...

I really enjoy these releases and I really appreciate you, Si, keeping us all abreast of them. I no longer worry about missing a new (Ghost Box, MWC, JB, PYA, Clay Pipe, etc) release because I know you're walking the beat. Thanks for keeping the streets safe for the rest of us.

You're welcome!
Which reminds me, preorders open soon on Clay Pipe's next one, a thing from Sharron Kraus which will no doubt be very folky.

I'm releasing the new/sixth Southern Tenant Folk Union album next month on vinyl - first time we've done it for an LP...it's a folk album with politcal lyrics but has a huge soundtrack influence (check out track 4 'Martial Law' for big horror strings) - we're just doing 500 copies but got test pressings back last week and it sounds great...here's the artwork...

Also you can listen in advance here - https://soundcloud.com/stfuband/sets/th ... is-project

Though the vinyl will only have the first 10 tracks you can hear on the soundcloud (the cd version) it will come with a download code for the full 13 cuts...

Here's some more info on the album...and I'll repost here once I get them back from manufacture and they're ready to go on sale...

"This January sees the release of the sixth Southern Tenant Folk Union album ‘The Chuck Norris Project’, the band’s most ambitious album to date. Conceptually the tracks are all named after different movies from the actor’s career (though have nothing to do with the plots and contain no reference to car chases, explosions or karate chops) with each song taking the title as a starting point to discuss political ideas. Band leader Pat McGarvey came upon the idea in autumn 2012 during the last US presidential election when Mr Norris and his wife released a campaign video urging voters to come out for Mitt Romney saying that a vote for Obama would lead to “a thousand years of darkness”, a statement he felt unhelpful to the debate. Musically eclectic the album remains an all-acoustic affair but takes in influences like 70’s disco, folk and soundtrack music mixing elements of composers like John Carpenter, Gene Clark and Fabio Frizzi. The album also features guest vocals from cult Americana songwriter Mike Ferrio (from the bands Tandy & Good Luck Mountain)."

May/may not be of interest to most/many/any people here, but my favourite album of 2014 by a huge margin is being re-pressed this week.
Myriam Gendron's Not So Deep As A Well is sort of Sybille Baier-like downbeat folk stuff using the poetry of Dorothy Parker as lyrics. And I bloody love it.

For any of those interested in world music, krautrock, psychedelic music - you really should check out Al Doum & The Faryds new album, Cosmic Love. I just got it in on vinyl, and love it.

Servant Roberts has spoken!

Moon Wiring Club's Leporine Pleasure Gardens is out on the 12th of December in 2xLP or CD format. And, as is usual with MWC, both formats will be different versions of the album.

Clicky O'Here for the full goings-on.

Oh those pesky dueling versions. Looks like I'll be writing that letter to Santa after all.

PS - Thank you, Si.

Si, just listened to the two tracks streaming of the Myriam Gendron record (on your recommendation) and was instantly blown away -- called up my local and they're ordering a copy for me, but want to hear the whole record! Any chance you can send me a link? -- I'm at jadiaz@gmail.com

It's always a prompt service from MWC!
LP's suitably weird (2 tracks, not 2 records), will give CD a go in a bit - need to do a thing about Mark Kozelek's Christmas record first...

BTW Si, the 2 tracks I've heard of the Myriam Gendron reminded me of Maxine Funke's Felt record from a few years ago -- check it out http://maxinefunke.bandcamp.com/album/felt if you dont know it already - -one of the best folk records I've heard in years!

Amazing looking packaging... love the analogue synth graphics. Obviously a real labour of love for someone. Didn't know anything about these guys but just read up that they were involved in all that late 70s/early 80s Sheffield scene and went on to become ABC.
