Lots of interesting monikers here...SO, what's the story?

To kick off...my full STBC handle is DISCO SUCKS...SUBVERT NORMALITY! And yep, it's a film reference. I'll give you a chance to dig it out of your vast subconscious (cuz I know it's bugging you!) and will explain after the gap :)

Spot on! You get to hear most of Linda Manz's awesome CB radio rants on that :)

I picked up the name ghost fires a while back from reading stories about the history of West Texas. People use to claim to see fires off in the distance late at night, especially on tops of plateaus - and obviously nick-named them ghost fires. Just sounded pretty cool for Texas folklore, and at the time I was recording music inspired by the drives I had through West Texas, so it stuck with me.

Check out 'The Mound' by H.P. Lovecraft. Fun Texas Ghostfires stuff.

On a completely different note...

My initials are JMC and I'm a software developer, so when I leave a note to myself in the code for something 'to do' later, I leave 'jmctodo' in a comment so I can find them later. Being one of the primary developers means there are a lot of them littering the code.

The story behind my nickname it's a bit more freaky... in the 90's I had this habit of wearing pants and jackets in corduroy (70's style!). The nick is still alive and many of my friends still ignore my real name! :D

Nothing freaky here...

The name comes from the days…back in the mid 90′s…when I worked with the band THE IN-SECT from Athens OH...booked / promoted / designed flyers for the garage rock shows I put together…and was a record buyer all for a few years out of Columbus OH where I went by the moniker Hip Nick Creature - Below is the complete self portrait

Karswell: The man who first scared me to death.
No not a dodgy relative but The Satanist doctor from Night Of The Demon.
This was the 1st horror film I managed to dodge the rents in order to watch.
It was back in the 60's, I was 8-9, I never slept for weeks afterwards.
It's still one of my faves

We have a local beer brewery here called Yazoo, and I just love to drink their stuff. If anyone here finds themselves in Nashville, and would like to get some pints and tour the many local record shops here, give me a ring!

Not a very interesting story I'm afraid but my moniker comes from from my old cat Oiche many years ago which I've used as a forum name since. It means 'night' in Irish, as she was all black. Her sister still lives happily and is called Luain (old Irish for moon- due to the white bits on her). And yes, you have to suffer a photo.

ooh, Monk's not happy with that, look at that tail going! I think Monk and Oiche are riding shotgun with Rufus in the underworld. rip!

Mine has to be up there with utter lameness, its just my name!

My Mother remarried a few years ago to a guy named Tony so any time i'd be there and someone would say Tony we'd both get up, from that point on I just became tonyandrewgiles.

And seeing all this kitty love is awesome!

Here is my little hellion Magwitch.

My cat's tail used to do that - he'd tolerate all manner of nonsense from the nieces, but the swishing was a clear indication that "I'm making a note of all this, you know. And one day, you will regret this".

Of course, that was with kids. With us grown-ups, it was simply "I'm about to get very, very violent".

Way back in the day of aol's first beginnings... I wanted a log on name. I asked my friend to think one up and this is what she came up with. I used to take martial arts so she chose ninja! :) As far as cutie, that is debatable. The "c" was taken, so she used q. :P
