I love the spine quotes, sorry Dan !

Hey it's your label, and they definitely set the DW releases apart from others on my shelf, which I'm guessing is the point. As you were sir.

ps. all my posts on this thread seem to have got bizarrely muddled up...!

Hey Spencer,

Just received the Blake's Gold Vinyl of The Fog OST ...it's truly awesome as expected.

However, I was surprised that it was sent in one of those substandard envelope mailers.

Surely, that's not up to your usual high standards...saying that, luckily, there was no damage.

Isn't this a bit of a backward step?

I received The Fog (blue/green mist version) and Escape From New York LPs today. The records are fantastic, I'm very pleased with them. And to my surprise, I even got a orange/green version of the Escape From New York in lieu of the full orange one. Many thanks for that! I'm still trying to figure out why I had to pay £28 for the shipping of those 2 records though...

Hyped for Room 237, I thought the documentary was okayyyyy, but the music is great!

Are DW still planning on doing Beyond the Black Rainbow too?

I like the film up to a point.....seeing it in a cinema, it felt waaaaaay too long for what it was! Definitely a first-class dvd extra rather than a cinema experience for me. The music is pretty good, although the title theme is so ridiculously just Phantasm that I'm surprised they didn't summon a visit from an outraged Tall Man! ;)

I sort of enjoyed the film, but I suspect it wasn't for the reason it was intended to be enjoyed... Then again I'd just watched The Wicker Tree so anything after that would be a step up. I did like the seriousness of it all, reminded me of an anthology of batshit mental Jack The Ripper theories I read on a plane once where most of the authors spent much of their respective segments slagging each other off. Happy days.
But yeah, I did enjoy the music (again, not The Wicker Tree's, that was terrible) so I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing the DWRC version!

I liked the movie overall, but it could've done with a harsher edit - the first 20 minutes or so wasn't great. The soundtrack sounded quite cool though, completely unoriginal but cool all the same, so I'm looking forward to hearing it on wax. The main reason I'm hyped for it is because it's an 'original' soundtrack release, which I much prefer to straight-up reissues (which, to be honest, I'm starting to get a little tired of now).

It's due to the weight of the Fog record. Wah wah

Recieved The Fog from LITA today. Unbelievably beautiful craftsmanship on this release. When someone asks why I love vinyl, I can just let them hold this colossal piece of beauty in their hands.

I must go weep now

Spencer - for those who aren't able to make it to one of the US Goblin shows, will Subscription 3 members have an option to buy the Goblin release from you? Seems like it would be a nice perk for us. Or you could be really nice and just include it in Sub 3 :) I saw the mention of Assault on Precinct 13, can't wait to hear it!

Hi one and all. Regarding Room 237, I shot/cut a short Q&A with Kubrick producer Jan Harlan a few months ago as part of the Bridport Film Festival. We'd just sat through that and Jan did a 45min chat afterwards - being fairly dismissive of the documentary (but I do agree, the music was fantastic!) and it's conspiracy theories. I also shot the screening of The Shining that took place afterwards on a deserted hotel on a remote dorset cliff top - Jan was at that too, so I'll get that cut and up in the next few weeks.

Here's the piece if you'd like a looksee http://vimeo.com/72348404

My own view is that Room 237 suffers from not showing any of it's theorists. So, we're left to assume they're of 'a type' which I thinks a huge detriment to the piece. Plus, nothing really holds water apart from the American Indian theory. Very much the worst kind of pub bore conversation - yet, sonically it's very good indeed. Anyway, as Jan says, 'It's a ghost story!' and that's that!

You will.
ALways look after the subbers ;)

I wouldn't include it in sub 3 as it's only a four track EP...

@Mr de Ville: Very interesting, will check out that link later.

I think you're spot on when you say it suffers from not showing any of the theorists. Something about the whole film didn't sit right with me, and a lot of the theories lacked substance to say the least!

If the film had examined the people behind the theories, examined what drives them to become so obsessive over a single piece of art, then it would have been far more interesting for me.

Just watched Ms. 45 for the first time (little late in the game, I know!), and it absolutely blew my balls off! Can't wait for this release. I've had that saxophone riff in my head for days now.
