Walter de los Ríos - La residencia / ¿Quién puede matar a un niño? this two Spanish classics by Chicho Ibáñez deserve a new vinyl release. I was thinking on releasing myself but I have no time to do it, create a licensed record label is a fulltime job...

OWS perhaps? :)

Do it! Go ahead. The more record labels releasing cool stuff, the better. Besides, you don't have to do 50 records a year. I'd love to own Quien puede matar a un nino.

Still don't know if it's reliable. One of those two Waldo de los Ríos would be great, at least one. The masters must be here in Spain. Working on it... ;)

I'd love to see Bingen Mendizabel's score to La Madre Muerta get released.

And also Alejandro Amenabar's own score to his film Abre Los Ojos (the original Open Your Eyes).

Both awesome 90s genre films with fantastic orchestral scores ;)

Not so fan of Amenabar but a proper release of 'La madre muerta' would be awesome, that's a killer soundtrack. @disco, man, you're jack in the box, this is a weird spanish film

Give it time! ;)

I'm thinking on really put some effort on a proper 2 LP with the full score of "Who Can Kill a Child". I just love that soundtrack, with an incredible catchy orquestal main theme, the weird mixture of electronic effects and orchestra in the rest of the score with jazzy jumps... the whole Score is awesome. It would be a dream come true, we'll see...

Again, you would get full support of all forum members. And I'm sure OWS and/or Death Waltz could distribute some copies. The film is great and the soundtrack is very good too.

I love Spanish cinema! La Madre Muerta is a film I've been recommending to people for years....a lost classic :)

I don't know "Who Can Kill a Child" but I will certainly try and find it now cheers!

Thanks mate! it really is an original fantastic movie by Chicho Ibáñez Serrador, the true Spanish maestro of suspense known for the TV series "Historias para no dormir".

@disco if you like it try La Residencia, directed by Chicho and scored by Waldo de los Rios too. From my view the best spanish horror film of all times.

@dahousen - well, I went the other way round, as it was easier to get hold of La Residencia (there's a dubbed uncut W/S version on YTube...) and Who Would Kill a Child? is on it's way.....

I liked La Residencia, reminded me of Bava, a bit of Hammer, and of course Suspiria! But it also had the langorous pace and kinky sexuality of Kumel or (a tame) Jesus Franco. Great seeing John Mulder Brown too. I'm still not completely sure of the ending, but having said that I like it more and more as I think back on it. Had almost the feeling of Kumel's amazing ending to Malpertuis.

Onwards to Island of the Damned!! (ie: ¿Quién puede matar a un niño?)

Disco I have been waiting on Dead & Buried for a long time. Potters bluff marbled grey variant :)

There's so much Hammer in this movie. I was 10 when I saw La Residencia, imagine my reaction watching it... hahaha but it's a lovely movie, with Moulder Brown and Lili Palmer!! I've seen it so many times that I just love it as much as I love classic Hammer.
It's a damned no one has seen the uncut version, neither Chicho has... Puto General Franco...

Now, do me a favor when watching "¿Quien puede matar a un niño?", listen the score and tell me what you think. And enjoy the movie! Eli Roth and many "cool"... guys considers this a true classic. It's not a weird Paul Naschy or Ossorio film (which I love), and of course it's not Pieces (very funny and ejoyable movie). THIS is a true original horror classic, hope you like it.

Yeah, I agree with more James Newton Howard material. I enjoyed his score for Peter Jackson's King Kong.
