Can't recommend highly enough, the genius of the MJQ - mainly piano, vibes and drums. You'll dig it!

The Howard Shore Naked Man Soundtrack got a lot of tracks composed by Ornette Coleman and Thelonious Monk.

I can't echo Disco's suggestion of Miles' Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud (Elevator to the Gallows) enough. One of my favorite records full stop.

Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers: Des Femmes Disparaissent
Krzysztof Komeda: Knife in the Water

I think all of these are easy to get a hold of in some form, and while cheap is in the eye of the beholder, but if you don't mind reissues, I am sure these are all reasonably priced.
