I'm sure it's supposed to be that way. I have 2 copies and they're both like that. I think it looks OK, though, and I don't think it's that different from the image: LINK

Are the subscriptions still being released on Friday? Just realised I don't get paid until next week.

What are the chances of the subs selling out until then?

I bet the subscriptions are gone in a few minutes. Flippers will be all over those.

If anyone is interested I just saw a couple of copies of Maniac in Bis Auf's Messer in Berlin. If you are there.

But maybe you can write them and they'll post it.

RE: comments earlier about Maniac record sleeve being snug - and ripping the inner sleeve. I have same problem with this and the Fog one - the space is far too small for the record, so I struggle to get vinyl back in the sleeve. My maniac inner sleeve is completely ruined now!

I don't want this to sound like I'm moaning - because I'm a massive fan of DW and have all the releases. However, as constructive feedback to Spencer... this does need addressing, as does the earlier sleeve quality. I notice that Strange Vice shop in Scotland even have a disclaimer on some of the DW products they sell, saying 'around half of the records we get' from this label have seam splits. Several of my coloured vinyl DW releases have also arrived slightly warped. Personally, I'd rather have heavyweight black vinyl over coloured stuff if it means better durability.

I've also had difficulties getting the vinyls back in the cardboard sleeves, but it helps if you place the vinyl halfway down the opening and gently open the two cardboard sides with your thumbs. Sometimes it slips right in.

For these cardboard covers, however, a sturdier inner sleeve would definitely be better.

also.. my silver Maniac has a sticker on outside that says 'black vinyl with splattered' something or other!

"also.. my silver Maniac has a sticker on outside that says ‘black vinyl with splattered’ something or other!"

Mine says that too.
It also says it includes a "mirrored print", but it's not mirrored at all, it's flat.
As well, it's supposed to be "silver vinyl" but it isn't - it's flat grey without even a hint of metallic effect whatsoever.

I'm hoping its Friday of next week. Day after pay day ... That would be as good a sign as ever that I'm destined to own this. Do you think my girlfriend would buy into that?

Folks
sorry been super busy and haven't had time to log into the board.

Re: the sleeves for Maniac and The Fog , Yes they are a bit tight , we are looking into this as we are going to carry on using tip on sleeves as they are awesome. I think the card might be just a tad to thick, if you push each end of the sleeve when you hold it and kind of make it do a circle shape it makes it easier to get it back in. Are you guys saying the black poly lined inner sleeve is not strong enough too ? I thought these would be fine, let me know and I can look at that too. No if the records should be warped though and we press eveything on 180 now....
Let me know as I always listen to what you guys are saying to me.
I will be announcing sub 3 next week (well it will go on sale we are not announcing any titles) current subbers get first dibs then I will alet you guys in here know as you are super active and supportive of the label.
You know that quality is my number one goal so it's upsetting to me if you guys think the quality is lacking in the last couple of releases, I wanted to change to the poly lined inners to STOP seam splits etc.

I think everyone is happy with the poly-lined inners, and it's definitely strong enough - the only problem is that it's a bit difficult to get it into the sleeve. But if you fix that, everything should be fine :)

the poly-lined sleeves are great. i always get excited when i open a new record and there is a poly-lined sleeve. it just shows better quality and attention to detail. for THE FOG, not sure there was a way around the records being a snug fit in the cover with it being gatefold AND such heavy duty cardstock. i mean, that cover is THICK! i've never owned a record that had a cover that was so solid and sturdy. just be patient and gentle when putting your records away. :)

@deathwaltz - i am in the US and i am eager to see what the price will be for sub 3 with the new shipping deal through LITA (or if it is any different). i'll be all over it as soon as it is announced.

Ill make sure to keep an eye on here next week for the subs praying for Thursday onwards.

does DW sends you a shipping confirmation when your order is shipped? I have not received mine of Maniac (ordered the first day available)
By AndreasEldritch
#2361
If you in the UK - I think everything gets sent recorded delivery, so presume DW can track down any missing parcels. I've received emails when order 'completed' but don't think this was actually being posted as they then took another week to arrive.

Polylined sleeves are excellent - as long as I can get them in the outer sleeve. thanks for the advice on how to get them in, will give it a try later.

To be fair I don't think i've had a tip on cover that is easy to get back in. Not the biggest fan of them personally I much preferred your first 6 covers although I know not everyone liked them.
I guess you can't win
Keep up the good work Spencer

I love the original house sleeve. Classic big box VHS feel.

I don't put my records back in the jackets usually, I just keep them outside the jacket in a plastic sleeve.

My "Maniac" showed up, such great packaging! This and The Fog are next level, no wonder they weren't part of the subber set. The red splatter is kinda see through. When I hold it up to the light it shines through in the splatter. It's killer.
