If they are doing 1000 on amber and that is limited then it will be no problem getting the version A...shouldn't be a problem getting the amber if you're on it when it drops

...and damn...forgot about the shipping making it $42...ugh.

Was going to get the JP vinyl... then he price was announced... No thanks :-( i dig the Mono releases but all these horror stories concerning their customer service, well, is a bit of a turn off

I am going to skip JP as well....ever since I skipped Gravity, I have been on a 100% have to have basis with Mondo -- I still will buy things moving forward but I just don't need all of the releases. Might be time to unload that Maniac...

I can complain about the creeping pricing but I CANNOT complain about their customer service - When my wife made an ordering error...ordered the VHS not the Lp...I contacted them after being told to contact them by some folks here and Mondo had an immediate response to my email and a fix of the credit card within the day

I, too, have had stellar customer service from Mondo. Stellar. Though, I've never received a damaged product either. That said, I've canceled orders and added to them and always had a good experience. And any time I email a query, they respond quickly and thoroughly. They've had some snafu's along the way that they correct, but so has every label on this board. Mondo just isn't engaging us in an open dialog like most of the other OST labels do. I'm curious to see if both versions or just the amber version B go on sale at the Austin listening party. I have a feeling that the amber version will venlike the Halloween splatter and only the leftovers will be for sale on 6/11.

The price tag on JP might be to do with rights issues since it's definitely a higher profile release, maybe? The label/studio might want a bigger cut so they need to raise the price. Just playing devils advocate here. It's definitely too high I think, especially for a single record. The variant for version A does look pretty cool, version B and the amber vinyl are ok, but I don't need to have it.

$35 for a 2xLP of a John Williams score of an all time box office smash is too much? Some folks on this board were shelling out over $30 for each of DWRC's RSD releases. I have no problem with that as I am one of your number, but this isn't too expensive by any contemporary measure. Two different original covers. Two different variants. How much did Creepshow cost? Now add a second LP. A Field in England? If JP is too expensive for you, then it is only because your interest in it isn't that high which is totally fine. But, if you are a fan of the score, then, by today's standards, $35 is spot on for this release. By all means, say you aren't interested, but anything else is intellectually dishonest.

I think $35 is too high because Mondo releases are not always top notch. DW and WW are always absolute top notch releases all the time, every time.

well said @mateo, and let's not forget, DW's "In the Wall" wasn't even 30 minutes of music and many of us put down $30 for it. Don't get me wrong, not complaining, it is probably my favorite of the 4 DW releases but JP is a double lp with over an hour of music for $35. Worth the price of admission for me.

I think at $35 is fine, but putting it over to $42 with the shipping makes me a bit hesitant. I love John Williams and I love the JP OST, its just up in the air right now but im sure i will cave and pull the trigger.

not sure I will be picking up Mondo's "The Visitor" but I sure love Spencer's endorsement "It's a banger". :)

Ah, I didn't see that it was a double LP. $35 for a 2xLP seems to be on the threshold of high, but with their $7 shipping, it does put it at a steep price.

I'll be passing on the visitor. Surprisingly, I didn't like it when I just listened to it on YouTube. Better for my credit card that way; it finally can catch a breather! :D I will be getting jurassic park though. On a side note, my kindle suggested the word "park" after I typed jurassic. That's awesome. LOL.

Anyway, I like that mondo is diverse, because it allows everyone to find something if you wait long enough.

$35 is friggin LAME for JP. Man, Mondo is really souring in my eyes. Doesn't help that all of their releases sound like junk. What are they, like mp3 rips to vinyl? Seriously. I feel mondo cares way more about packaging and fancy vinyl effects then what actually matters, the music. Plus that "random" variant stuff is nonsense. Just SELL them directly like every single other label does.

As excited as I am about The Visitor (Stridulum), and believe me I am very pumped about that, I reallllllllllly wish Spencer could have had a crack at that one. DW would have put out a MONSTER of a release.

@Cooky - So don't buy it, my friend. Save yourself the stress. By the way, Waxwork (with the exception of Creepshow) sells vinyl the exact same way; random inserts. Secondly, some (not all) of their vinyl sounds exceptionally good. Better than a lot of their contemporaries. Plenty of us have releases from some of our favorite labels on here where ambitious vinyl variant choices have taken a toll on fidelity. Also, if anyone is like yourself and doesn't like the overpriced, high concept package at the expense of sound, but for some reason still wants to buy the release, wait five minutes and buy a black vinyl version from discogs or eBay for less than the original price. Any of the releases from the last year with a "standard edition" can be had for a song. Cheers.

I guess it all comes down to taste .
I'd take the Visitor 100 times over JP but that's just me . Musically it's far more interesting and in line with my tastes . JP is cool and I love Williams but it doesn't tickle my pickle like the madness of the Visitor plus Micalizzi is an underrated Genius .
Different strokes.

All this JP talk and the art work looking so good, decided to listen to the digital version on the dog walk this morning.

I've got to say its not for me, definately for fans of big orchestrated soundtracks. I felt like it reminded me of the movie, but not in a good way, like i wanted to watch the film because the music didnt standalone as a good soundtrack.

So despite it looking lovely, I think I will pass, especially with the international shipping costs.

I do enjoy JP, Spence, but you've nailed my point exactly. It is about taste. There's no reason to winge about this release costing to much. We pay prices like this on the reg for releases all the time; especially those of us who import. Personally, I love The Visitor score and, while I will buy a copy of JP, The Visitor will leap into my top 5 Mondo releases immediately. It'll probably cost $20, by the way, cheap compared to many other single LP releases.

Definately down to taste and if you like big bold scores then JP is a winner, has all the elements you would need.

On the cost issue ....
$35 for a double is good value , that is cheaper than our Fog package and will be cheaper than two of our double album releases in the next six months (although ours are tip on sleeves etc)

$35 isn't terrible for a double but ordering from the UK will make the album £32 inc postage.

I'm a huge fan of both the film & score so even though it's a little pricy I'm still on board.
