Hi. Not sure if this has been asked already but I'm interested to know how Death Waltz master their vinyl. Is it digital or analogue source material, if it's analogue then is it an all-analogue process from master through to cutting or is there digital remastering, if it's a digital source then what resolution, this sort of thing? May of course vary for different releases.
I noticed Waxwork say they mastered their reissue of Reanimator from original master tape, a few other companies doing modern vinyl reissues like to declare their source material. I think it's pretty rare now to have an all-analogue set-up but not unheard of, I think 'remastered from original master tape' usually means digitally remastered.

I think in order not to break the internet you need to quietly release new titles and maybe just let people know who are on the email list. That way the people who are actually interested in these albums can get to them without a hassle and then word would get out and I think you'd have no problem selling these. I guess interests varies for each release also, The Fog being so lavish and beautiful that people went crazy for it and because the original release demands big money on the secondary marked.

And if Hellraiser is indeed coming I hope you do Hellraiser 2 as well as that soundtrack is incredible.

I seem to remember something about stores getting the coloured editions of releases now with the prints & posters, is that right? My local indie always gets your releases and I'd really like to support them.

It's kind of surprising that it has only been a year since DW started, feels much longer. Thanks for doing this Spencer, and here's to many more years ahead and many more super cool releases. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with the number of releases ahead! Glad I was able to get in on Sub 1. Easily my favourite label, and not just because of the releases.

Managed to get a black vinyl edition of The Fog, much to my great surprise. My copy has "A" side labels on both sides of the first disc - are they all like this?

Death Waltz has been a breath of fresh air for me musically, up until last year didn't buy an awful lot of music as got most of stuff given via downloads. My dad is massively in to vinyl and asked if I fancied queuing with him for last years RSD, went along and picked up quite a few stuff Bride of Frankenstein & Wicker Man to name a few, got speaking to someone in the queue about soundtracks and I mentioned Escape from New York been a favourite, he mentioned it was been re-released so I looked it up and found the Death Waltz release date, since then bought more music in the last 12 months than I probably had for 10 years, think the big reason for this is the product itself, downloads just have nothing about them other than the music, with vinyl and especially the DW stuff I'm like a kid at Xmas when a package arrives eager to get it out of the packaging and look at the amazing artwork and passion gone into the sleeves and presentation. As well as amazing releases been great to interact on twitter with Spencer and pick up on albums he recommends i'd usual miss out on. without Spencer's recommendation probably wouldn't of discovered Beasts of the southern wild score or ever heard of Pye corner audio both of which I absolutely love now. This forum will no doubt turn me onto other hidden gems. Keep up the amazing work Spencer can't wait for the next subscription just hope I can get one.

Can I spare a minute please to give some major love to the other two recent DWRC releases, which have not been recieving quite as much in the shadow of THE FOG and MANIAC uber releases??

First of all, HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY is my favourite DW release so far. Why? Ok.

The art by Graham Humphreys is absolutely beautiful. This guy has been at the top of his game...well, forever. I first noticed his work splashed across 80s video sleeves inc. his legendary Palace Video stuff. The very first design of his I remember was the poster for a low-budget NZ schlocker:

That's a perfect poster in my book.

So he's just bang on my taste really. Not in any way to offend anyone who adores it, but The Fog cover image just doesn't kill me. Don't get me wrong, I love the package. The new music is incredibly well put together by Alan Howarth, the design of the thing is NUTS and brave and brilliant, and DW have knocked it completely out of the park in terms of honouring the source. But I'm just not crazy about Chapman's illustration (or, honestly, those guys' work in general)

Enough contention - back to why I DO love HBTC.

The music is flippin' gobsmacking! I wasn't already familiar with the OST as stand-alone music - and man, does it stand alone! Stephen Thrower cuts to the bone in his excellent, on-point sleeve notes - another reason why I love this one. I LOVE THIS RECORD!

Add in some pretty cool vinyl colourisation, a MASSIVE poster of Humphrey's art, and the top new design of the DW releases/labels/sleeves etc, and this one just sent me doolaley when the postie dropped it this week....so, huge THANKS!

And a very honourable mention to TWINS OF EVIL. I've blarted enough, but suffice to say I haven't dug into the music properly yet, but love the opening theme, the Eelus art is groovy, and it's another massive 180gm DW bombshell dropping on the doorstep this week.

Colour me: poor, but very happy

(Ps. Once again - please don't hate on me for my Fog Feelings! I still fuckin' love it and am seriously happy to have snagged one! But we're into personal taste here, innit?)
