I’m about to put the needle down for a first listen of this on headphones with candles lit - I’m so down for this, the dream inspiration, the story, the graphics, the music.

It’s still wild to me that we’re in an era where we get new albums from this guy, and a new concept album with graphic novel no less-who else is left now from his time who you can say something remotely similar about?!

It is amazing to see the second act he has had in life with his music. It is also very cool that he gets to share this time with his kid—they are making such great memories. Yeah, the only other director I can think of who is still in the game is Cronenberg, but not quite in the same sense you are talking about. Please give a review of this at some point; I am definitely curious.

Cathedral was a really cool listening experience, reading along with the accompanying notes - I hesitate to say ‘story’ as it’s written in highly perfunctory short sentences, very much the way someone tells you a dream. It actually reminded me of Alan Moore’s Necronomicon - it’s in that third (fourth?) wave of Cthulhu Mythos.

Musically I found it less varied than the Lost Themes albums, it’s more focussed to a certain palette with heavy guitar and organ, classic Horror Master drone synths and sequencing, highly grandiose and dark - it really does play as underscore to the story. Not read any of the Storm King/JC graphic output but I do think I’ll track this one down for the full experience.
