This was a treat.
I never really got to watch those old Boris Karloff movies. Still need to watch the OG Frankenstein…

Just watching They Live and realised that the Prophet JC (the other one) was spot on with his timeline - when Nada and Keith David go underground and crash the party, the speaker is saying:

“Our projections show that by the year 2025, not only America but the entire planet will be under the protection and dominion of this power alliance. The gains have been substantial - both for ourselves and for you, the human power elite!”

Also watched Trap yesterday. Movie made for children. Really stupid.

This morning I started with more Karloff.

Another Fulci is still hadn’t seen.
Really liked it but the last part dragged a bit too much.
Couldn’t count the amount of eye close-ups…

Another one from Paul Schrader I didn’t know about. Al because my girlfriend wanted to see more Willem Dafoe.
Great movie but I preferred Light Sleeper.

I’m planning to watch O, Canada this evening.

Then Brutalist tomorrow in Imax, then Presence on Weds, very excited - Soderbergh is my guy and I can’t recall the last one of his I saw in the theatre (maybe Side Effects? or Contagion for sure)

I am not keeping up with what is being released. No idea about O Canada and Presence. Only read a little bit about The Brutalist (and its long runtime…)

Enjoy! And let us know what you thought of them all.

I am continuing my Saturday with:

Enjoy The Keep!

O, Canada is Schrader’s latest, very good word on it.

Presence is being marketed (possibly too much so, I suspect) as an intense horror - a haunted house story… from the point of view of the ghost!

Also, the trailer for The Monkey is very funny :) I am in.

Can never get enough psychological thrillers. Tonight’s pick - how have I never seen this?!

It’s a soundtrack LP I’ve come across in the racks forever (wondering if it will be a goodie, by Led Zep keyboardist….) but never investigated the film - directed by Michael Winner, written by Tom Holland!

^ don’t believe I have ever heard of the one.
I have been wanting to delve some more in comedic movies. In the 90s and early 2000s I remember regularly enjoying the American comedies with Will Ferrell and his peers.
Also remember absolutely loving Kung Fu Hustle.

Watched this one just now:

Not terrible but way too long.

I watched Night of the Hunter for the first time as well. That is some brilliant and villainous stuff.

Now some more Karloff.
