While moving the remainder of my records yesterday I had the OWS releases in hand. Really loved them. And Papaya is a brilliant score. At the time I bought both variants of their releases. That is something I stopped doing years ago. I understand the appeal as a collector to collect everything of a brand/label/whatever... but with so many other records on a want list I rather spend the money on music I don't already have.
The Spun Out Of Control tapes are my only exception. Because I have every tape he releases I cannot break that streak :-)
And there is the occasional double dipping with re-issues.

The Newton Brothers

Giving this another try. I often enjoy scores by The Newton Brothers, but I hated this album's first LP, which is church hymns. Waxwork described them as, "The powerful vocals of the Midnight Mass Choir create a realm of ghoulish worship with The Newton Brothers' reimagined hymns." However, it just sounds like regular old hymns to me, and if I wanted that, I'd go to church. I liked the second two LPs, but my lasting impression of the release was, fair or not, "ehhh."
